Name is NolaMusicGuy, so obviously I live in New Orleans. I see a LOT of shows each year and usually do about 6 festivals that are outside of NOLA, in addition to Jazz Fest, Voodoo and sometimes Buku. Always skip FQF b/c it's not really a festival. Grew up here, went to Tipitina's before it had air conditioning and you could get in at 16 with a decent fake ID. Have read the board for a bit, finally decided to jump in.

Hey Dan, we're doing Mountain Jam that weekend, to catch Decemberists, Father John Misty, The War on Drugs, The Record Company, Kurt Vile, Mondo Cosmo and more. Our tastes lean more towards Alt/ indie/ Rock. Have a great time at FF if you go- the Woolands is a wonderful festival setting.

Would love to have caught the Decemberists and Kurt Vile. How was it?
Kurt played a nice, chill, late-afternoon set- perfect to relax to with a cold beer. Decemberists unfortunately cancelled due to Colin's strained vocal issues. Overall, there were plenty of great breaking and mid-tier indie, alternative and rock artists on the bill. They got longer sets than they would've at the big fests, and you could get pretty close up for most sets. Mountain Jam is a bargain in a nice mountain setting. Yeah, it was 2016. The awesome lady sitting on the hood is Tammy, she's the "godmother" of the bus. It was her idea to buy the bus when it was just white and had rows of seats and then convert it to the awesome hippy bus it is today.
We bought the bus when her and her husband Bob moved down to the Gulf Coast. The whole story behind it is on the Bonnaroo site if you want to read about it: www.bonnaroo.com/news/community-spotlight-roo-bus/

jackson23 you purport you were "looking forward to discussing all things Bonnaroo, music and pop culture". how do you defend this statement given your lack of response to my food questions?

Welcome Chris, another relocated South Carolinian! I was a lurker for a couple years and joined 7 years ago... wow... Do you know if you're going to Roo 2019 yet? If so, hit Camp Inforoo, it will happen!
I'm uber impressed that you hosted a festival, are you going to be able to make it annual?
Your first concert was 2006ish, which should make you a 20-something?
Neil Young would be awesome. He's one of those bucket list artists who will probably only tour so much longer...

Yeah I'm going to Roo 2019. It's become a way for me and my high school buddies to have a fun reunion weekend and uh... explore our minds / escape reality for a week or so.
I'm 25. I'm hoping to make the festival annual. It was a relatively small local festival. Pulled about 300 ticket sales and did a little better than breaking even, but it was universally liked and it was a great way for people to find out about the great local South Carolina music scene.
Have a huge list of improvements for next year, so I think I can do it even bigger and better next year. Overall it was an awesome learning experience and a huge step forward for my business (the music blog) because it got me a lot of exposure in the local papers, social media, etc.
Neil Young is on my bucket list for sure. I'd love to see him before he calls it quits.
