A friend of mine and I are going to rent an RV for 2012. Eff waking up in an oven of a tent. A/C and a shower? Sign me up.
Last year the cost of the RV was $3000. And you needed a wristband on top of it. The RVs SAY they sleep 6 but the layout says that 5 would be more comfortable.
I will be bringing a girl with me, and my friend (also female) will be coming. That is 3 of the 5 spots. If its 3 grand still, that breaks down to 600 a person.
We are looking for 2 (possibly 3 depending) people to share the RV with.
*if its 6 people in the RV, that breaks down to only 500 plus the band, or a total of 800...not much more than VIP and IMO way more worth it...
If you are coming from out of town then I guess it makes sense. But man they really rape people on those things. The "Tents" they sell are even more of a joke. No way to shade those things, they HAVE to be miserable.
Two years ago a few of my friends did an RV. A few of them flew from CT to NC (where a few other people live) and rented and drove from there. Perhaps you could do something similar? Drive/fly part way to a place where you can park safely and drive the RV the rest of the way?
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I bought a nice popup used less than 3,000. It is roomy and has AC. Because it is lightweight and low profile towing it cost just a little more than not. The RV section is separate from regular GA and that alone is good. I don't need AC 24 hours a day. From about 8 am to 1pm and maybe an hour later for dinner or a nap. We love to go camping and it works for that and now I have a RV for every roo. Also it stores easily in the driveway.

I was really hoping my uncle still had his RV (brand new never been used) but alas he let it get repoed just this month. The more I think about an RV then better it sounds however the price is a little much unless we went in with a few ppls. It's RV or tent only at this point.
I put out a facebook feeler the other day and pretty much got no hits. Any inforoo peeps interested in splitting an RV if we can find one?
I found a website that has some available, but they are all towing RV's. And my SUV would only be able to tow the "popup" kind. The popups sleep up to 6, have AC, but no shower. $600 bonnaroo rate unlimited mileage.
Right.... hmm. Al is looking at buying a Jeep, but I guess that would be about the same as your SUV. I'm tight with my dad, if it comes to it I can (probably) get his giant Dodge deisel.

The diesel would definitely pull anything in their fleight (sp?) of RVs. The ones with the bathrooms/showers look nice, but be sure to read the fine print, they all have special "Bonnaroo" pricing. I think the bigger ones are $1,200 total for the weekend.
I just reserved a 30' RV for Roo. Picking it up in Duluth, GA on the 7th. The total was $910. They have only one more left... www.crusieamerica.com
If you call, punch in extension 7441. She had a special for half price milage, which saved about 60$. (it would also be cool if you let her know that I referred. I dont get anything out of it, but I am also in sales and appreciate the referral process. My name is Derek)
The 910 includes:
Rental, tax, insurance, all fees and 400 miles of driving. The only other things that will have to be paid are:
$500 security deposit that is returned when you return the vehicle in the same condition you picked it up in
$3/hour for running the generator.
And gas. The generator burns 1 gallon per hour. I am guessing at about 40 hours of generator use, which would be 120 and another 150 for the gas.
I currently have only one other person that is in, and I am looking to max out at 6. I will probably take someone with me, so that is 3 spots gone. There are 3 queen beds and one single in the coach.
PM me if you are interested. Looks like at 6 people, the breakdown including 40 hours of generator use will be roughly 200$ apiece, plus some gas for the drive to/from Duluth which I estimate to be 140 split 6 ways.
So all in, roughly 225 each unless there is some reason all or part of the security deposit isnt returned

Sorry Jade, I was still at work. Had to work late today
Not worried about the size of the travel trailer. Mike has a big truck (full size GMC 1500). So, as it stands right now we have 6... looking for two more. We'll be going in Wednesday evening/night and be able to take one companion vehicle (we can fit 5 comfortably in Mike's truck with plenty of storage in the truck bed which has a topper).
Anyone here that's interested please PM me so we can add you to the FB group.
We were definitely thinking on trying out the RV route this year. I've gone GA camping the three years that I have been and can say that I feel I have fully had that experience. I would really like to sleep past 9 for once especially since I always end up staying up until dawn one night.
