The Beach Boys are one of the first casettes my dad would play when I was a wee lad along with The Eagles and Bob Segar. I know every Beach Boys song, this is gonna be a one in a lifetime type show.
Well, according to Mike there is hope for you guys.
How will these shows differ from your Beach Boys shows? What do you think the set list will be like? From what I understand, from a few of the promoters and venues that want us, they want to hear a lot of hits. But I think stuff from the Pet Sounds album and Smile will undoubtedly be included. It will be a comprehensive thing. We're going to try and be as inclusive of all the eras of the Beach Boys music as representatives of our catalogues because I know there are some people that are into one phase or another of our career, so we'll try to do what we can to incorporate everybody's wish list. That would be tough to do unless we did a week at Carnegie Hall. We've got hundreds of songs.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
I tell ya I loved that Hall of Fame video. Instead of thanking the hall Mike insults as much rock royalty as possible. He's always been a train wreck so wny should that nite have been any different. It was really a different time back then and for better or worse he's a character that we all wanted to see. Just to see what he was gonna do or say next next. Kinda like a car crash sometimes ya gotta go back and see it again and again. But you have to admit it was probably the most memorable Hall speech ever. He certainly had everyones attention. And Elton at the end was classic.
The Beach Boys were the central theme of my dream last night. Brian Wilson wouldn't sing. He could sing, we discovered, so he hadn't lost his voice, he was just refusing to do so. I was right in front of the stage and there were like 40 other people there. When they started up the first song (no idea what it was), I burst into tears.
But don't worry, GL, you were one of the 40 people in attendance

That setlist is pretty solid. Longer than I was anticipating but it looks good. As long as Sloop John B is on there, I'm cool with whatever else happens.
YUP! I will say this my friends that were there last night said yes it was amazing! but they said Brian looked "uneasy" at times. I just hope he can make it thru Bonnaroo before some kind of flip out or something.
If it's looking like that's the route they are going I can skip the first and show up for a few songs on the second set and just wait to see them the next weekend.
