So I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I just got the email that yet another tent will be air conditioned and I'm thoroughly annoyed. I want to be able to actually see these acts without waiting 4 hours to get in a tent that half the people are just going into because it's air conditioned! I think that if they want to give people relief from the heat, they should have "cooling stations" that are air conditioned and maybe JUST the comedy tent.
I remember the first couple of years the cinema tent was just open and you could wander in and out. It was great, just chillin in the shade of the tent watching a film. Now I avoid it because I want to actually see shows and music, not just wait in line. I probably won't be able to see any of the jazz because it'll be in an air conditioned tent and I'm not willing to sacrifice that much time.
sorry for the rant, but the s.o. and I just were discussing it and it makes us mad! but, oh well. it's not like i won't have plenty to do and see ;D

I don't maybe it will be cool (pun intended). Bop into the jazz tent with some cool AC grab a chilled brew and cool down, listen to some jazz before heading out to see a must-see. ;D I did the AT&T blue room burnt a cd in the air and did a little oxygen before headin out for Ben Folds(no line at least not long). Man it refeshed me. Maybe with several ac tents there wont be a big wait. Last year the preservation hall tent didn't seem to always have music. Had a brew or two and just chilled for a spell. But I hear ya ,Won't be waitin in any big lines.
i know that the few times that we tried to head over to any of the air conditioned tents there lines to get in. hammocks in a huge air conditioned tent definitely sounds great. roo planners should peruse this board for inspiration! I agree that the concept of the jazz tent sounds cool. but i'm afraid that i won't be able to get in to experience it because of the lines!
relax... i doubt there will be a line for a music tent. that concept is somewhat anti-bonnaroo in its very nature. comedy tent has seats, so there is line to fill those seats, but seats are unnecessary to take in music at bonnaroo. you might find a packed tent though.
I have also never waited in line for the cinema tent.

Since they started closing-off the sides of the Cinema Tent, It's just too much ofa pain in the ass to get in! I liked it when you could just walk-by, see an open spot and sit down for a while. The new(er) set-up has totally killed the draw of the Cinema Tent, in my opinion.

i dont think your gonna have to worry about the line to get into the jazz tent. ac or no ac. seating maybe but well..its jazz. and while my heart stopped at the thought of ravi coltrane AND david murray AND stefon harris.. yeah.most people wont stick around that too to long. there is too much to see this year and jazz isnt a priority for most folks.
I don't know. I've been there during a couple of HOT years where I think people would have sat in the port-o-potties for hours if they had A/C. People may also use these tents to crash for a few hours.

I think we need to hang with you because we tried a few times for the cinema tent and comedy tent, then gave up after not getting in. the jazz tent is having seating too, though, according the the email it's going to be in "nyc jazz club style" with seating and a bar. maybe i am overestimating people's love of jazz music. it seems impossible for the people of bonnaroo not to embrace jazz though!

my opinion is that any tent with AC, seats, and a bar will be difficult to get into and have a line. Jazz not being a draw just sounds plain wrong to me, but we'll find out soon enough! ;D 24 days!!

I agree that Air-conditioned tents are kinda lame. not only does it create lines (and who the hell wants to wait in line?) but it just makes the area kind of cut off from everything else. I remember wanting to check the cinema tent out last year, but the line was a total bummer so i skipped it.
Personally part of the fun is finding ways to cope with the heat...and i think that AC is just cheating...
I know for sure that folks were sleeping in the cinema tent last year (during the day) because it was AC. im sure this would be the same no matter what was happening in the tent.
what would stop someone from just sleeping in the ac cinema tent all night? i think its open 24 hours...
I wonder maybe if they didn't put AC in the Jazz and comedy tents to attract more people and even it out. Maybe they thought they wouldn't get that big of a crowd otherwise?

The comedy tent is always a pain to get into but I miss Something Else. The jazz and big band music was always good and it had ac. They always controlled the number on people by adding a cost to getting in that was donated to charity.
