The prices went up when they made it a "4 day". It includes camping and fees (which I wish all festivals would go to that system). Shit's just expensive in the Northwest. I've never been able to explain that one.
I'd like to point out they pulled this lineup out of their ass. This is the same weekend as Primavera. There are a few crossovers but for the most part, this is fresh.

It's a good lineup. But nothing special about it. For me it would in no way be worth the money.
yeah, i also couldn't justify going to see this lineup somewhere in like the midwest for that money, but I imagine the location is legit unbeatable. I have a crush on the pacific NW.
Am I missing something, or isn't this just basically Coachella-lite?
Maybe coachella is Sasquatchish + a little more?
Thats what I was saying in the Coach thread. If Coachella was the only fest I went to this year I wouldve been in love with the lineup. Their second/third tiers were all "festival" whore bands that have shown up on multiple festivals.
Agreed. Im only tossing it around because I have friends that have been begging me to come out to Portland and I could roll this into a combined trip but if not for that I wouldnt be returning to the Gorge for the sole purpose of Sasquatch. I hate living on the East coast.
In my mind it's the stuff worth seeing from Coachella with the inclusion of Americana. It's not spectacular or anything and I liked last years lineup a little bit more, but none the less I'm happy.
I'm just saying, this costs pretty much the same as Coachella, has a few bands that aren't at Coach (jealous of the Presets, John Talabot, Twin Shadow, Toro y Moi), and that's about it. It's a really solid festival lineup, but doesn't blow me away like some of the past Sasquatch lineups have. This is the one fest that every year I'm bummed I can't go, but if I was on the West Coast and travel to this and Coachella were roughly equal, I just don't know that I would see any reason to go to Sasquatch. I know the Gorge is amazing, but this doesn't blow my socks off.
I agree, except for two things. First, as a student/teacher I have a lot more trouble flying across the country for a weekend in April than I do in May. I realize that doesn't apply to everyone, but a large portion of fest-goers are college students, so it does play into the decision for a lot of potential customers. Second, unless their schedule has some horrible conflicts (I've never looked at their past ones), I would imagine you could see more of the bands you wanted to see there than at Coachella. Last year was my first time at Coachella, and the conflicts were just brutal. The opposed HL thing is worse than at Lolla. With Sasquatch being spread out over 4 days, it thins it out some.
Do they have LNs or a curfew, does anyone know? There's no way I can realistically do this, but I'm at least telling myself that I haven't ruled it out yet, just as I'm doing for Coachella.
But wow, I hope a lot of these bands end up at Roo. Postal Service, Empire of the Sun..... the list really just keeps going on.
Did this in the Coachella thread. Doing it here. Bored at work.
Not actually going, but if I were...
Friday Sea Wolf -> Red Fang -> Japandroids -> Nacho Picasso -> Father John Misty -> Arctic Monkeys -> Matthew Dear -> Baauer
Saturday Preservation Hall Jazz Band -> Bombino -> Indians -> Devendra Banhart -> bit of Akron/Family -> Bloc Party -> The xx or John Talabot -> bit of Tame Impala -> Sigur Ros -> Empire of the Sun
Sunday Torche -> Danny Brown -> The Tallest Man On Earth -> El-P -> Shout Out Louds -> some of Earl Sweatshirt -> Elvis Costello -> Grimes -> last bit of Azari & III -> split time between The Presets and Primus 3D
Monday Chvrches -> Brown Bird -> Cody ChestnuTT or Mike Birbiglia -> Dirty Projectors -> Death Grips -> Disclosure -> Ariel Pink -> The Postal Service

So is anyone else going. Or if you have been any advice for some first timers?
Its a little cold up here at night in northwest this time of year, and hot during the day. There is no cover at the gorge so be ready in case it rains. Other than that the gorge is one of the best venues around! The veiws of the main stage are awesome no matter where you're at. Be safe! Have fun!
I just found out that Bonnaroo is off the table for me this year; which really stinks because I have a group of friends going down with an RV (friends that I've tried talking into going in past years but to no avail).
Therefore, I am really considering making the cross-country trek to Sasquatch. The lineup is always PERFECT for my tastes (a lot of on-the-rise indie folk and indie pop bands). I also have a friend who lives in Seattle; if I can talk him into joining this year (he has been interested) he will supply a place to stay while not at the festival, transportation, and camping gear for the weekend.

I'm thinking about Sasquatch as well - it was actually the first fest I'd ever heard of/wanted to go to, but I've never been. It seems like somewhat of a logistical nightmare for me to get to, but I may be able to finagle something because Memorial Day Weekend would be a perfect time for me to get away! I do recall bonzai talking about going as well. NFF meet-up out west??
I think there's a good chance for me, yes My parents, specifically my dad, reeeeallly want to go. If they commit, I'm basically definitely going. If they don't go... I am not saying that I won't go, but that certainly lowers the probability.
My dad is completely set on it. Asks me about it all the time, has alarms on his phone to remind him to look more into it as lineup drops, tickets go on sale, etc.
EDIT: And Ellen- it will be two weekends this year (with two separate lineups) over Memorial Day and 4th off July weekends. So we'd have to coordinate weekends too.. I forget which one my dad was leaning towards. I think Memorial Day
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Ellen - if we go the same weekend and you need to share some camping stuff, I should be able to help if my friend joins in.
I am unsure of this 2 weekend thing (I'd rather a 4 day fest if I am going to trek to the west coast for my first time). Right now I am more interested in the Memorial Day weekend, but will be lineup dependent. Although the first rumors are pointing to Mogwai, Haim, and City and Colour so that's a damn good start.

I've always wanted to do Sasquatch. It's probably the festival that I'd like to go to the most out of ones I've never been to. I always tell myself that I'll make it next year. If the 2 weekends rumor is true, then maybe I'll actually make it this year!
One of these years I will make it back to Sasquatch. My first and only year was back in '10, and it was a great "little" festival. The view behind the main stage is breath-taking! The first weekend is on Memorial Day Weekend, and I've committed myself to MysteryLand in NY already. While I'm not the biggest EDM lover, having been to TomorrowWorld in Sept, I learned that if you're going to do an EDM fest, you might as well do it right and go with ID & T...so much better, production-wise, than Insomniac! Also, MysteryLand will be held on the original Woodstock site...that being said, there sure will be some good vibes going on.
Anywho, not to derail. If you have never been to Sasquatch, and are on the fence, just do it. It is a great "little" fest, with great views, and great peeps!!!
