Ive taken my army issued camelbak the past two years plus a nalgene dummy corded to it. I would never consider walking around with less water at Roo. and if you like staying hydrated and not get heat stroke, you get over the funky tasting water.
The question of which camelbak is a good model, id have to go with the HAWG or the MULE becuase of the awesome gear capacity and 100oz reservior. Camelbak has changed their designs alot with this years line so the way to get the tried and true original models is with uscav at least thats the only place i saw them. www.uscav.com/productinfo.aspx?productid=19969&tabid=548&cm_sp=LP_camelbak2-_-LP_Product-_-19969
Quick question, what canopies have people bought and been madly impressed with? All the ones I look at are either skimpy and weak looking(ex. rei alcove, kelty sunshades) or over the $170 range (ex. EZUPs). Anyone with good recommendations?

I bought mine for $60 (i think) from Dick's Sporting Goods a few years ago when they were on sale. It's basically a generic EZ-Up. The waterproofing could be better, but it's sturdy and is easy to put up. Dick's and other stores usually run sales in the Spring on canopies, so just keep an eye out. They had one set up for display in the store when I bought it if you like to get a good look at things before you buy them.

I have a CamelBak ThermoBak 2L that I think I'm going to bring. I got it for really cheap at Keesler Air Force Base like 2 years ago and have never used it.
3L Camelbak with compartments is the way to go for sure. I brought along several water cooler sized jugs of water......no need for lines and the water stays at a nice temp even when kept inside the car. It's not super cold but it's def not warm. I usually get an iced tea from the coffee stand at some point in the day and dump the ice into the bladder to cool it down a little, tea only a couple bucks.
On a side note.....a battery powered 10" portable fan is soooooo key!!!
grand trunk makes a 7 x 7 ft blanket from parachute material called a parasheet. very handy for a dry clean place to sit plus you can fit it in a sandwich bag.

Camelbak: I use a 2L Camelbak bladder, but I have another backpack with a bladder sleeve. It's nice because I tuck away the Camelbak tube back into the backpack's bladder compartment and for the most part it's hidden, so I've never had to dump my Camelbak coming in to Centeroo.
Canopy: For our first two Roos, we used an Ozark Trail Canopy/Sun Shade we got at walmart for $30. It was almost destroyed by the torrential downpours after Phil & Friends in '06, and it's not that great at providing shade during the hottest part of the day (it's pretty thin material). Now we have Firstup, which is Wally World's EZup brand. It's much stronger and durable. As mentioned before, it leaks some in big rains, but we usually put a big tarp over the top of it. The Firstup has held up well, but EZup seems to be the standard.
