Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
i don't know if it's relevant to ticket sell out times but I'm a member of the Street team and by this time last year we had been able to earn a bunch of points (re-tweeting clues, etc).
Last year I had earned 6,400 points for a ticket in Jan and Feb. This year same time frame, 250! You need 15000 pts for a free ticket.
Discussion on that forum is starting to lean toward wondering if people will earn enough points to if AC is trying to reduce the number of free tickets available.

I think looking at other festivals is what makes me say it will take longer than two weeks to sell out. Radiohead is also playing Coachella and RHCP are also playing Hangout. I think that dilutes the power of how many tickets they will bring in super quick. In addition, Phish is a big draw, but '09 had them as well (and weren't they not touring much then?) and it didn't do a fast sell out.
I could be wrong and be totally eating my words in 3 weeks or so, but I just do not see tickets selling out in two weeks.
Has anyone ever not gotten a Bonnaroo ticket because they sold out crazy fast? No. Is it going to happen this (or any) year? No.
Bonnarooo sold out faster last year, why do you see this trend stopping? I'm not saying it's two weeks, but festivals have hit the mainstream and these three headliners all draw a huge following.
While Coachella is not a perfect model for Bonnaroo. Simply looking at the jump from 2010(Months), 2011(week), 2012(hours), it is not crazy to thing Roo is on the same path.
The fact that about 85-90% of the attendees camp-out rather than stay in a hotel turns a lot of people off. The reason Coachella sells out so quick is the availability of hotels, condos, and apartments in Indio, on top of on-site camping.
My thinkin' is along the lines of Lerxst. Bonnaroo takes place in bum fuck nowhere Tennessee (no disrespect!) on a farm where most patrons are campin' out fer a weekend. The weather is a bit extreme in comparison to others like Coachella, Hangout, Allgood, Waka, Sasquatch, etc. At least that's my impression from what I've heard. Also other festivals like Coach, Lolla, and Hangout (among others) are in areas where you can stay at hotels or whatnot very close to the grounds. There aren't as many amenities near 'Roo. I'd say at best we could see a sell out in April.

A patient at the rehab I worked at was from Coffee County. He always told me how Bonnaroo was the only thing that happened where he lived all year long.

This. I bought my ticket 3 days before Bonnaroo this year.
And I'm also from the neighboring county. That being said, there are a few redneck draws like 4x4 clubs where a few thousand people will show up. Nothing quite the magnitude of Bonnaroo happens all year round.
Hi sorry is this has been asked. I was wondering how quickly the main release of tickets sell out. I am a little tight on money right now being im 17 and $270 is a pretty significant amount of money for me. I should have it in about 2 weeks. Should i worry about a sell out before this time.
If we get Phish-Radiohead-RHCP at the top, as expected, with a pretty strong under card, I think this year could be a case study, of sorts, for the people who have been posting in this thread. If it doesn't sell out quickly, we'll know the location and heat likely is a telling factor.
Phish is a big draw, but '09 had them as well (and weren't they not touring much then?).
Phish was touring all over the southeast in '09. Knox, TN & Asheville NC the same week as 'roo.
Yeah...but that lineup also had Bruce Springsteen, NIN, Beastie Boys and David Byrne. It was far and away the most top heavy lineup they ever rolled out.
I'm in the "I wouldn't worry about it camp". It rarely sells out, and when it does, it's usually closer to the May/June. But then again, if you're bad with money, better sooner than later.

Not taking it, but I'm going to give your props. It looks like you called it pretty well. Ticketing demand was the highest in Bonnaoo's history. I don't know if this is the Radiohead effect, more people becoming interested in festivals in general, or a combination of the two.

I think its a combination of the two. Festivals in general are starting to just sell out faster. If Bonnaroo was closer to a major city it would sell out in a day just like Coachella, Ultra, and Lollapalooza have the capability of doing.
basically if you wanted advice to your question (this is from a post 1st day ticketing sale survivor) buy them as soon as you can when they offer the sale (again) Do the payment plan if I had to bet I would say it appears its going to sell out sooner but who knows how much sooner.....if you cant get the $90 to start your payment plan think how hard getting $400 all at once to buy from TM. Hope you make it to the farm !!!!
