Several months ago they announced dates for August 3 and 4 for this festival and word was that they were working on a 10 year deal at the Kansas Speedway.
There has been some rumors that the festival has been postponed to 2013 due to construction at the Kansas Speedway but nothing has been confirmed at the official website still has a 2012 date. Has anyone heard anything?
This would be disappointing because last year, the festival was incredible. It was well-ran, well-organized, everything was clean, the sound on all stages was top notch, everything ran on time, the police presence was minimal, the festival goers were respectful, friendly, provided a great vibe, and the line-up was solid for a first year festival. I didnt hear a single bad review from anyone and apparently pulled people from 27 different states and 3 countries. It was probably the best festival I have been too as far as how well ran it was which is amazing considering it was it's first year. I honestly cannot say a bad thing about the festival. The promoter's seemed committed on making this festival a long-term deal.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has heard anything on this year and if it is going on, who will be performing. I imagine it would pull a lot of the acts from Lolla as they did last year because it probably reduces booking expenses since those artist are already performing in the midwest.
Anyway, if anyone knows anything, I would appreciate it. I have a lot curious people wanting to know and a few people from other states that were planning on coming in for it.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

This was really an amazying festival. There was diff presence of security and most of all LOTS of medics, Both were VERY helpful. I was laying down collecting thoughts (prob looked like a passed out kid) on two occasions and was asked by them if I was ok and if they could get me anything in the most polite tone. I was asked how they could improve for next year and staff/ attendee interaction was amazying. I felt like they really listen to what we had to say.
The sound at the stages were truely top notch. The speakers in the tent were beyond amazying. I was upfront for sts9 and the quality of sound and presents of the most bass I have prob ever felt really blew me away.
This festival needs to come back. Besides rediculious prices on water and beer it was truely top notch and one of the best festi experiences I've had. That line up was really good, love to camp, late night stage near the camp grounds (Digweed getting moved to after tribe/muse was icing on the cake) was pretty cool. they need to schedule better acts for after the headliner at the camp stage though. digweed only played that spot cause he had to switch due to flight problems. But I agree, I could go on about this festival. We came from TN, four friend and I went for the two days. I met someone who came from georgia just for one day.
i thought I heard somewhere this was not going on this year cause it didn't sell like they expected. I hope it does though. I'd prob go back.
ok just went to there page and read this below. so it looks like a return is in the works? I hope this doesnt fall through.
You, the fans who came to Kanrocksas this year, helped us create a special event and we're writing to say thank you! In fact, we think you helped make this the best first-year music festival ever. Having a good time all the while being respectful of your fellow festival goers is one of the keys, and you delivered. What a great vibe!
Thank you, too, for all the suggestions to make next year’s festival even better. You’ve given us some excellent ideas, everything from free water outside in the campground to improvements we can make to the VIP experience. So keep the ideas coming. We’re listening, and we’re really excited about the opportunity to have even more fun next year.
Finally, we’ve had a lot of questions about attendees. Here’s the scoop: we had people from 47 of the 50 states, and from Canada, Australia and Ireland. We hope each of you made some new friends. We did.
Hope you have a great year and look forward to seeing you again next year!
I heard good things about the festival as well. Unfortunately we could not go having gone to Roo and being out of town with my sons the week it was happening. My wife stayed behind and the worked the event. She had positive things to say about it, but the word there was that the promoters lost money. On the plus side she was chatted up by the Artic Monkeys and had her photo taken with them. If you remember for the day M was performing discount tickets for that day were offered for a deep discount. Here's hoping they're able to put something together this year.

I would think that the promoters would realize that you are likely to lose money your first year or possibly few years. It takes time to build up a reputation and get the crowd to the level you want.
I had heard over the winter that they were working on a 10 year deal with the Kansas Speedway.
What I am hearing now is that they fully plan on returning but due to construction at the Kansas Speedway, it cannot happen this year. I believe they are putting in a new track which obviously would create a huge problem.
As you all have said, this festival was amazing. It was probably the best festival I have been too as far as environment and organization. I could not say enough good things about it.
If anyone hears anything, please post it and I will do the same. I have an e-mail out to a few people that may know the answer.
