My girlfriend felt the same way about A Place to Bury Strangers. They were really good. I especially enjoyed the light show projected onto the ceiling. Made me yearn to be a little more lifted than the couple of beers had me. I buy her argument since they had more of a garage-psych sound but I'd been waiting to see The Joy Formidable for so long that they were impossible to top.

I skipped them at 9:30, but what I saw of them at the Foo Fighters show was really good, even though the crowd for them was inexplicably dead. Cant wait for their set!
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I agree that this was a jewel of a set. I had just discovered them recently and am glad that I made time to see them in spite of the conflicts at that time.

I worked my way up for this and got pretty darn close to the stage. My payoff: My ears were ringing for about an hour afterward. What a loud show! And what an awesome show! It was my sleeper show of the weekend going in, and it lived up to my preconceived notions. Like Kanye said, Whirring was amazing. I heard it on my local radio station in Columbus today and just smiled. I'll never forget that moment on the farm. It was sublime.
^I was hoping for a Thursday night spot to avoid a situation like that. They could have picked up quite a few extra fans if that would've been the case. But oh well, they really killed it. Wouldn't change a thing.

They ALWAYS kill it. Can't wait to see them again at DeLuna. I saw them at a bar in Toronto for $15 last year.
