Oh no! Not only do we have to teach gravy appreciation, we have to have a gravy intervention!
Honey, you haven't lived until you've had a steaming bowl of grits, red-eye and salty, delicious, country ham bits!
hmmmmm... maybe I can procure some Johnson Co. Ham before Roo and being joy to the masses.
Do people not have a Cracker Barrel? WTF?
Fortunately the only southern breakfast food chain that has infiltrated New England is Denny's and there aren't that many so they're easy to avoid. We have plenty of IHOPs so we can't escape every crappy breakfast chain that easy. Give me a good old fashioned greasy spoon diner any day.

I can only speak for central and western Massachusetts, but we have Cracker Barrel for sure.
Do you remember Bickfords? I miss "breastfast anytime"

I didn't know Denny's was even Southern until you posted that. The one in Knoxville closed a couple of years ago because they had craptastic service. I think there's still one in a truck stop just outside of town.
Also... Waffle House. You cannot talk about greasy breakfast without it entering the conversation.

You know, i'm kinda glad we don't have Waffle House anywhere around here. I've only been to one, and got sick directly after eating there. Waffle House is bad news.

Waffle House and Krystal are proof positive that Southerners will do really well during the zombie apocolypse because, if you can eat there without your digestive system going to hell, you can eat anywhere.
Oh yeah we had Bickford's around here. All gone now. I just googled and there are 8 Cracker Barrels within 200 miles of me. Here in RI there are 200 Dunkin Donuts within 8 miles of me.
I think the closest Cracker Barrel to me is the one by Katy Mae! And I used to go to a Bickfords on my way to VT.. in umm... some town in Mass. Exit 25 or 16 off of 91? I've been to an IHOP once, never to a Waffle House and I have never heard of Krystal! Dunkin? ALL THE TIME! But not for food. Their bagels suck.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I know how to make gravy, but how would I make it and/or keep it warm? The logistics somehow escape me.
I could do red-eye, sawmill (the kind I think y'all have had), tomato gravy, whatee'r y'all want. At one time I could make great scratch biscuits - tutored by my South Georgia grandmother - but I'm way out of practice.
a big-ass pot of cheese grits or shrimp and grits would be good too....
I can pretty much make any type of food that is a cardiac disaster in the making...lol

Krystal is like White Castle but awesomer. Everyone needs to go to Waffle House at least once.

Same way here, I can walk to 3 Dunkins in under 10 minutes. It's overkill almost, but they all do gangbusters business.

That's Greenfield, ma. That's where my parents live! Ha, I went there all the time when I was a baby child.
never to a Waffle House and I have never heard of Krystal!
Prepare yourself when you visit Nashville; we will take you to one or both of these places! It's the best drunk food ever.
Just mentally prepared, or should I prepare my stomach too?? I was just talking to the owner of my Hangout condo last night and he said the Waffle House directly next door will be unavoidable for me

Nothing can beat a 24hr Diner for best drunk food, NOTHING.
Waffle House is a chain of 24 hour diners. All serve breakfast 24/7.
Waffle House is not a gosh darn diner, I can't believe you would even say that. Being 24hrs doesn't automatically make something a diner! I am like flabbergasted right now.

All this talk of food and my brother just brought the kids some McDonalds and then Dunkins doughnut is mentioned. It makes me really want something like this right now. Actually, I wanted one of these all day yesterday too. I think I'll bring a few big boxes of doughnuts to brunch.

this is a diner:
not a gosh darn waffle house
It has to be a converted train car to be a diner? I'm not getting why Waffle House is not a diner.
