Any thoughts as to whether they'll try to tackle the dust this year? I know it's pretty much been a given since '07, but I seem to remember they at least tried to spray down the roads back then. Last year they didn't even bother. It really has a severe impact on the overall fun of the weekend, almost to the point where you don't even want to bother. If they're going to continue to be successful year after year, they really need to do something to replenish the land or keep the dust to a minimum.

While I understand your frustration with dust, I do hope you realize that this is something that you have to come to terms with if you want to attend. It's at least a little bit of an issue every year. I ended up with pneumonia after 2007 because I didn't protect myself.
I disagree with several of your points.
I did see them spraying down the roads last year. When you have 60K+ people walking over the same areas continuously and there is a lack of rain, you will get dust. That is unless you think they should pave the walkways (that would be very uncomfortable IMO). I've been to other festivals with the same problem. The gravel that they lay down is really the best case for either a rainy or a dry festival.
I disagree that the dust impacts the fun of the weekend. There are things you can do to protect yourself from the dust. It's part of Bonnaroo. The continued success of Bonnaroo is not going to be affected by dust.
In your post you alluded to the idea that it might not be worth it for you. If the dust has such a negative impact on you and you haven't figured out how to work around it, then maybe Bonnaroo isn't the place for you.

I've been going to Bonnaroo since 2006, have severe allergies, mild asthma and wear contact lenses and never had an issue with the dust..... I think some people may be more sensitive than others, but it's not even close to a deal breaker for me and certainly had no impact on the fun I've had - and I am over 40......

I hate the dust masks, but I've found bringing tons of bandanas and having one around my neck to employ when the dust is bad really helps. I did this more last year than any other year and it was the first time that I didn't get the bonnaflu.
You can get them for $1 each and have enough to coordinate them with your outfits ;D
I saw them spraying the outside roads last year two different times. I also got sick about 2 days after we got back. My throat and sinuses were a mess. I was fine while there though which is what really matters I guess.
Last year was rough for me and my wife. The type of dust you saw on day two and three were normal, but by the last day it was a HAZE walking back to our campsite. We were both pretty sick after, coughing up nasty stuff. I think the fix is to simply get some rain... All you need is one good rain, not too many though, because then the threads about fixing mud problems pop up... But I will add my 2 cents and say last year was a little next dusty.
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
Yea my boogers were the thing that said "hey cover your face ya dingus" from them on a wet bandana around my face solved all dust problems just keep it moist
After the dust last year I was glad we were camped in BFE, it never reached us out there. I couldn't imagine being camped close to Centeroo and dealing with it at camp too. Walking back especially close to Shakedown the layers of dust on the tents and cars were crazy.

We were incredibly thankful to be in BFE for the same reason. Anyone tried a neti pot while on the farm? I had a little bit of a problem by Sunday, sinus pressure mostly, thought maybe a sinus rinse would help. Something to consider for those who are sensitive.

Just popped in to agree: a wet bandanna across my face at Dustaroo saved my life. Just keep it moist, and not only does it keep you cool but it makes you look like a bandit and shit.
the dust is kind of unreal and i thought it was really part of the charm. a wet bandanna over mouth/nose, and keep your head down/squint your eyes to power through big gusts when walking around centeroo!
i did experience the black boogers though. for days after I got home. i smiled every time i sneezed. free souveniers

I always employ a bandana or ripped up T-shirt, and I wash it every day (You can see the dirt/dust when I wring it out). That works for me, but it's kind of pointless if you keep putting something over your face without cleaning it periodically.
I have been since 06, and other than 07, and last year dust has never been a issue for me. That being said get a bandanna if it bothers you. Also anyone who went in 07 knows last year was pretty mild comparatively.
Yeah. 2007 was the worst I've seen it. I remember turning on my tent light one night and seeing dust seemingly hanging in the air - and I was camping out in James Bond. Less than ideal.

I had sinus surgery in April 2010 and have been using Ayr Sinus Wash ever since. Make sure to bring some distilled water with you for this purpose. And to warm the water place the bottles in the sun for a little while.
