Zen, I really like that idea! We will keep in touch and try to fing a good weekend for that.
As for this weekend, I will say lets meet up Saturday @ 10 a.m. That should give us plenty of time to get the hike in and not interfere with any St. Patty's Day Shenanigans that night. Here is a link to where we are meeting up. It is the Day Loop trail which is not accessed via the main entrance, if you are familiar with it. It is bubble C on the map below.
As long as it isn't raining Jason and I will be there (probably with Lola or Daisy). Pepper has an infection in her nail bed so I don't want her to have to walk on it I will text you if we are not going to make it.

Spring is here (well almost)! So, it's time for some camping to go with our hiking
There are a few of us going out to the Stone Door (Monteagle area) to go camping and hiking the weekend of March 30th-April 1st. Everyone is invited!
You can come down Friday evening or Saturday morning. We'll be hiking on Saturday and hanging 'round the campfire Saturday night. If there's interest we could do another hike on Sunday after we pack up.
If you are interested, please let me know. We have a FB invite thingy going for this event.
Here's a link for some good info on camping and hiking at Stone Door:
We're going camping and you're invited! We'll be camping Friday and Saturday nights with a nice hiking trip(s) on Saturday during the day. If you can't/don't want to camp, come down to see Stone Door on Saturday and hike with us. We'll see some awesome bluffs and some beautiful waterfalls!
Camping at Stone Door is free. If you can't make it til Saturday, and want to camp that night just let us know and we'll save a spot for you (or take your tent and set it up for you). If you don't have camping gear, but want to go NO WORRIES. We got you covered, just let us know. We have tons of camping gear and plenty to share. This is primitive camping (no bath houses) so don't expect to shower. I'll post some more info if more people are interested.
We will be celebrating THREE birthdays (sunfox78, Holls, & Dave Maynar) so expect there to be some partying Saturday night
This event is not private. Invite all your friends This is a kid friendly event (I'll check on if dogs are allowed).
Confirmed Attendees: popsicle sarah Mike D sunfox78 Holls tacobandit (plus son) WolfmanJess (plus kids) Abra & Dave Maynar (plus kids) ZenGypsy Phi VectorViking
Can we not bonfire Friday night as well? Roofan- c'mon down (or... up. Down the interstate, up the mountain, whatever) and my six year old totally knows momma drinks beer lol. Mind you, I won't be getting hammered and letting him play on the bluff

Yeah, we'll be having a fire Friday night too. When I made that description I didn't know how many would be making it down Friday.
I'm very pleased to see such interest in this trip. Can't wait to be out there in the woods!!!!
I think I will be by on Saturday night at least. I may bring my tent and sleep Sat night so I dont have to drive home. Just kinda depends on what all else is going on this weekend.
Oh yeah, we all had a blast! (Well, those of us who DIDN'T see the copperheads on the trail near our campsite!)
It was so awesome being secluded out in the wilderness with awesome people, kids, and sweet doggies while feasting on tasty noms & chillin' by the fire while listening to amazing tunes.
We should DEFINITELY do this more often to help ease the between-festival waiting agony.

Holy wow, what a great camping adventure!
Sure, there were a few snags along the way, but it wouldn't have been as interesting without them. I kept saying "Ranger Danger" in my head all day.
Those of you who didn't go really missed out, just sayin'. But don't fret my sweet Inforoo friends, there will be another giant camping adventure soon. Something is already in the works.
We ended up changing our camping venue at the last minute due to a snotty park ranger who was going to lock us out/in at 7pm.
We ended up camping on the opposite side of Savage Gulf from the Stone Door at the Savage Falls Campground in Palmer, TN. Some of us drove around the Gulf today on our way home to hike to the Stone Door in Beersheba Springs. The cliffs at the Stone Door are a real treat. The views are breathtaking.
Thanks everyone for making this trip so awesome. I love when a plan comes together

next time my loves. next time. only... no ticks. it sounds like you guys were literally tick-mauled.
Ugh, I stayed one night and pulled three ticks off of me. After a shower and clean clothes found another after a nap. YUCK. They were the tiny ones, but I ITCH!

It is pretty hard to go camping and avoid ticks, I gave my dogs frontline the day before we left and they were fine though so you could always try that mayo .

Recovering (from the tons of food I ate) and looking forward to seeing inforooers again soon. The kids had a great time and Cash has been saying, "I remember the two words, Camp Reggae" all morning.

Haha, my kids went hiking after you guys left and still did not want supper last night. I really enjoy having three to five courses for every meal and having them all belnd into each other all day.

For some reason, certain people are more susceptible to tick bites than others. I never put on bug repellent and I never once got a tick bite... like I have never had one in my whole life. I found one crawling in my hair Saturday, but they never light on me. Jesse's son had like 4 bite him in one day.
Mayo, maybe you have natural tick repellent like me
...but it pales in comparison to HOW UTTERLY AMAZEBALLS the event's incredible organizers were!
PopsicleSarah & MikeD = PLANNING & ORGANIZING ROCK STARS!!!
Seriously, without them, this trip would never have happened! They picked the spot and organized the event. Then they picked the second spot (what a 4th quarter Hail Mary pass!) when the ranger got ornery. They didn't just make sure everyone had enough supplies to share - they even brought a wagon to help haul the stuff!
< cue TV announcer voice > "But wait...there's MORE!"
NOT ONLY did they bring enough food to feed an army, but the delightful, fantastic, adorable PopsicleSarah cooked amazing meals for everyone! The girl is a force to be reckoned with! MikeD can set up a camp, build a raging fire, and cook tasty noms like nobody's business. Dude has mad skillz!
NOT ONLY did we have tasty noms every day & night, but in the morning we had FRESH COFFEE to go with the hash browns & scrambled eggs & turkey bacon & French toast! We had at least 3 breakfasts, 4 lunches, and like...17 dinners every day. No joke. We feasted like royalty thanks to everyone who brought the tasty, drool-inducing foods: Zen's mind-blowing jerk chicken wings, Abra's make-you-weak-in-the-knees BBQ chicken, Wolfman's cue-the-choir-of-angels Monte Cristos - yowza, there was sooo much goodness there!
NOT ONLY did we get all of that, but THEY EVEN BROUGHT A CAKE (with candles!!!) FOR THE B'DAY PEEPS! How cool is this?!?
NOT ONLY was there a cake, but there were BOUQUETS OF FLOWERS & TIARAS for the girls! And birthday cards & special surprise gifts* for all 3 b'day celebrants! (*Tacobandit: you are equally awesome! Thank you soooo much!!!)
NOT ONLY was there cake, but we even had S'mores for the kids made with Reese's peanut butter cups!
You have *NEVER* had a fun birthday, camping trip, or pool party until you've experienced the magic & the memories that comes from a weekend hosted by MikeD & Sarah!
If you were there, you know what a fabulous time it was. If you weren't there? Don't miss the next one. No, really: do NOT miss it!
THANKS TO EVERYONE who came & made the weekend a success! Life sure is better with y'all in it! My heart is as full of thanks as my belly was full of noms & brews!
