I haven't been to Roo since '09 when we rented a 30' RV and drove it down from MA. Certainly not going that route again as getting that pig down there was a slow expensive PIA.
Thinking about renting a GA Onsite RV this year. Anyone go that route last year? Where were they parked? Would you do it again? Any other thoughts?

We did it last year and I would 100% do it again! Best way to Roo IMO as we have camped and done VIP before. We had 6 people so it came out to $500 per person on top of the ticket. There was plenty of room inside with a queen, double, single bunk above the double and a couch that folds down to a bed. There is also seating area, full kitchen and a bathroom. The best part is obviously the A/C and bathroom. I can't tell you how awesome it is to be able to rage till the sun comes up and get back to your RV and take a nice warm shower and then sleep in the A/C until noon!! They came by every day and emptied our grey water and filled up our fresh water tank. You have a kitchen with microwave and can cook whatever you want. You have electricity to plug in phones, coffee maker, christmas lights outside if you want! Speaking of outside, there is an awesome canopy that pulls off the side and gives you a huge area to sit in the shade. A/C is incredible and being able to run back before late nights started and shower up after sweating all day is amazing! I could go on and on about how awesome it was! The RV itself was very clean and the whole process of checking in and out was incredibly well organized. If you have the money, then do it! There is no better way to Roo.

Do you happen to remember where they had the GA rentals parked?

thanks for posting this. i had never heard from anyone who had done this before and was always under the impression it was way overpriced and not worth it.
Prior to last year it was way over priced, no service, no water, electric went out etc etc etc. Horror story. Only plus was even the GA location was very good. Last year they brought in a new vendor for the onsites. Glad to hear the quality improved!!
It was horrific in 2010. Still very pricey... You can get an RV a few hours out and VIP tickets for the equivalent. Up side is again.. good location. Short walk to centeroo.
Anybody know if they set any up in Access Camping?
I don't recall seeing any there kat. But the Ga's are right behind access. One of the many many times i was out today for tickies, did see that the VIP onsites were going for 4192.. (plus the deposit I assume) so also assume the GA's are running around 3100 again (plus deposit).

The $4192 includes the $1000 security deposit according to the website. It also doesn't mention any difference in price whether it's GA or VIP so I'm assuming there isn't one but will confirm if I find out.

I'm torn, I really am. It's a ton of cash to drop (especially with kids to send to college) but the weather has been so rough. I'm a little spoiled I guess. 2008 was our first and the weather was so close to perfect I didn't realize that it was not the norm. 2010 we had the Fuse barn so last year was nearly unbearable.
Here is my take on on-site RV rentals vs renting a RV and driving it to the festival.
From what I observed (In VIP) last year the people who rented the on-site RV's basically "showed up" with their personal belongings. Food, clothes, shade tent and so on.
They did not have to worry about: Picking and dropping of the RV Extra fuel expense since a RV gets around 7 MPG Running a generator for air conditioning (since the on-site rentals are "plugged in") Driving a vehicle that they might be uncomfortable with Conserving water since they are filled daily
So depending on how far you live from Manchester and on-site rental might make sense. For example a RV getting 7 MPG driving 1700 miles will use $850 worth of fuel in addition to the fuel used running the generator (so another $50-$75).
And.. gas prices are expected to jump up this summer. CNN Link
The on-site RV rental might not be that bad cost wise.
And if all of that is too much the camp in a tent and go VIP.

Somebody on the Bonnaroo site asked if they could tow a "very small" trailer behind their car and still be able to park next to the On-Site RV. I have no idea if they can. Does anybody happen to know the answer to this?

If it was a cargo type trailer I would say no problem, if it resembled a camper type trailer I would say no.
But a car and trailer? How much "stuff" are you bringing? WOW..

This post is spot on. We did this last year and it was perfect for us - but I brought three small children with me. It was great to have a place to go for rest and AC and bathroom for the kids to recharge so we could see more music. We were going to rent an RV up here and drive it down, but 2 things - we wanted to be able to drive to the Walmart if the kids needed something and we didn't want to waste precious time with the water and connections and waste "stuff" that would be required. The RVs were new, very nice and spacious and the people that ran them were very helpful and we had no issues whatsoever. With the kids, my wife and I weren't out until dawn, but the five of us could sit in chairs under the awning and the VIP RV area was so close to What stage that we could hear everything perfectly while the kids slept.

I had always heard the price far outweighed the benefits and never really thought more about it. After these posts it sounds like this may be a viable option to explore in the coming years.
I was wondering if they enforce the number of people that can be in the on-site RV and whether there is space to set up a 2 person tent next to the RV? We are trying to get a group of 8 people together to bring down the p/p cost of the rental - since the RV only sleeps 6 we figure we can rotate 2 people in a tent outside for sleeping. Any thoughts on this would be great, thank you!

I could be wrong but I don't think so. I never saw tents setup next to them in years past.
Please note that there is only one parking space allotted to each RV, so any additional vehicles in your party will need to park either outside of the festival, or in the general or VIP campgrounds potentially away from the RV location.
This year, all General Admission RV renters will receive one vehicle identification tag to show at the tollbooth to help direct your vehicle to the GA On-Site RV Oasis area. This vehicle tag will be mailed in advance with your festival tickets. This vehicle identification tag is not necessary for VIP renters since the VIP campground is more contained and we can easily direct you to the VIP On-Site RV Oasis area.
Can any of you kind folks who stayed in an on-site RV in VIP tell me whether or not there was room outside of the RV to set up a small outside hang space, like an ez up with some chairs and a grill table/bar?

Thanks,
We did not stay in one of the rented trailers but since we also stay in VIP we walked past several times. To answer your question, yes there is space outside between trailers. My best guess is 10-12 feet between them. Note that the rental company nylon ties the awnings closed so bring your own shade for sitting outside.

I am also in a group (8) that is trying to decide if the RV rental is the way to go. I'm personally a skeptic, especially at $3200 ($400 a piece), but my group is trying to sell the idea hard. I've got a few questions that I need answered before deciding on this:
1. Can more than 6 people sleep in the RV? 2. Is $3200 the real price or will/could there be other costs associated with the RV? 3. How would this compare to the overall value, price and hassle of renting our own in Nashville? 4. How does this compare to the value of renting a tent? 5. How does this compare to bringing your own tent? 6. How does this compare to getting a hotel nearby to use as a place to refresh during the day?
The rental trailers that are onsite (or ones you rent) will not sleep eight people nor do I think six people.
Here is my observations.
Figure they have a one bed, they call it a queen but it's more like a full. This will sleep two people.
The dinette folds down, this will sleep one person since the length is less then six feet long. Or this will sleep two children.
The couch folds into a bed, pretty much the same as the dinette.
A class "C" will have sleeping above the driver seat.
Personally four people would be my limit on sleeping capacity in a hard sided trailer or RV. The exception would be a expandable trailer (hybird). They could sleep six comfortable.
Here is a video showing a rental walkthrough. Link Here
Remember as gas goes up the cost of the on-site rental gets better !

I actually emailed them about towing a 5x5 utility trailer to ga and the response I got is it would have to be park in the ga rv camp even though it was only a utility trailer or not, so it would be a ga ticket + rv pass this is because of the room allotted for each ticket. Being as I want to do ga I have to find another way to get my gear to the farm.

Yeah, parking in Car Camping with a trailer is a definite no. I was asking about parking with a small trailer next to an on-site RV rental.
i have seen a few answers regarding this in the thread, but i would love a more specific answer. the only way my friends would probably do this is if we could fit more than 6 in. i would rather be in a cramped space then in the tent, just cuz the AC and all.. so tell me, how many could u fit in here, really? is there space for air beds?how many does the folding couch fit. is 8-9 unrealistic? and im not looking for luxury, just space for everyone. many thanks. first post here btw.

Bonnaroo says that the floor plans for the differen RVs vary, so it may vary a little depending on which RV model you end up in. I will say that we toured a 6 person RV when we went to the RV rental place for the one we are renting. It looked like there was not a ton of extra room in there. To get more than bed capacity, people would have to sleep in the floor. The floor was narrow, so somebody sleeping in the floor would pretty much cut off your ability to walk from one end to the other.
