1) Four Tet 2) Black Moth Super Rainbow 3) Actress 4) Pantha Du Prince 5) Bear In Heaven 6) Squarepusher 7) Miike Snow 8) Orbital 9) Primus 3D 10) Cold Cave
Justice Would be way up on this list if they were a part of the actual lineup
So it's scaled back in a big way like we all suspected, but there are still tooooons of amazing acts that I'm wayyyy looking forward to on the bill: Pantha du Prince, Actress, Four Tet, Miike Snow, Prefuse 73, Divine Fits, Orbital, Squarepusher, EITS, GZA, Thomas Dolby, BMSR, Cold Cave, Killer Mike, El-P, Bear in Heaven (not to mention Justice) are all acts I'm suuuuuper excited about. Like legitimately pumped.
No huge names, but it's still gonna be non-stop fun all weekend. Especially considering how truly awesome it is hanging out in Asheville and all the inforoosters that'll be there (hopefully that number doesn't go down with the scaled back lineup).
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
we have 2 tickets to sell for music midtown. we had already bought 2, then we won 2. i would like to sell these this week if possible to pay for moog tickets. if anyone is interested let me know.
(hopefully that number doesn't go down with the scaled back lineup).
THIS. Stick with us, kids!
Oh, I never miss AVL in the fall... I'd be there w/bells on even if I skip half the shows. Somebody's gotta be the unofficial hostess of the Asheville Brewery Brunch, right? ;D
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
Not huge on the headliners (though corn + Primus 3D will undoubtedly be fun), but a real strong undercard for me. If I can get a $100 or $125 ticket, I'm in. If I can't get one of those in time and it goes up to $150, it's going to depend on the schedule/conflicts.
I'm pretty pleased with this. My only worry is the fact that Primus, Squarepusher, Explosions In The Sky, and GZA are all on Friday. Really hoping by some miracle that none of these acts conflict.
I for one am floored by the lineup. 90% of the acts are like if they put my music collection on shuffle and booked whichever bands popped up first. Compared to the last 2 years the bookings are not as new shiny, but the concentration of veteran talent and innovative bands on that list is amazing. I can't understand how people are not pumped about this.
Oh well, more elbow room for me on the dance floor!

I'm going to Moogfest no matter what. The people and area are great and I'm hoping that there will be additions. That said, I'm not impressed. There are some good bands but out of last year's line up, there were maybe 3 I didn't want to see. This year it's flipped. I'm not crazy about many of the bands that we didn't already know. I feel like they hinted at the best shows and then just threw in some other crap to fill the bag. Even for 100 bucks it's a good deal. I was hoping for a bike on Christmas and I got socks I'll still wear them but I really wanted a bike.
I'm happy that so many of you are pumped for this lineup! And even if you aren't pumped, that you're still committed to the fest.
For selfish reasons I am glad the lineup does nothing for me.... so I won't feel so bad about not being able to go. I probably would have cried into my pillow if it was so-amazing-OMG-they-got-Sigur-Ros.

I was quite disappointed with this lineup. When they said a smaller festival, I didn't think they meant this small. As is usually the case, once I Spotify an initially disappointing lineup, I warm up to it. And that's happening here. Even still, I don't think this lineup is worth a 6 hour drive (one way) for me. Last year's lineup was more my style. I should have gone then.

SOCKS!!! Perfect analogy! Yeah, the more I think about it, I already have plenty of socks (white ones, of course! ) so do I really want to spend $$$ on a full festival when there are only 2 artists on the lineup I've never seen that I'm only mildly enthused to see there?
At the moment: no. After 2mos of acquainting myself w/the other artists? Maybe.
One thing's certain: if I skip the shows, I can spend more time @ the Thirsty Monk. File under: Win/Win.

no one says you have to buy tickets to the festival to go and have a great time in asheville that weekend. i think we'll go to the fest fri., but sat. we are just going to hang out with people and enjoy asheville. i was talking to someone else that is planning to pretty much the same.
The lineup looks like a real good undercard from top to bottom. It seems they forgot to book any headliners, but it is a good lineup. A little underwhelming though.
To each their own, but booking one of the most important techno acts of the last 20 years (Orbital) is what I call a major headliner. Plus veterans like Richie Hawtin, Carl Craig, Squarepusher, Prefuse 73, El-P, The GZA, Mouse On Mars, Four Tet... from my end, it looks like they took a list of "Best Electronic Albums 1990 to Present" and threw darts at it to book the fest.
::steps off grumpy old man soapbox::
I do agree though, it's not as dazzling as the last two years. But being from Kentucky, its hard for me to find a DJ at a bar playing any of this stuff, let alone these bands playing shows in a tolerable driving distance.

Maybe they just had a difficult time getting people to agree to play. Considering how the lineup came out so late.

Like I posted on the FB page... I'd be willing to pay $25 each for Squarepusher, Orbital, Thomas Dolby, and the Magnetic Fields. So the value is already there. The one thing that occurred to me, as I was swearing under my breath about the inclusion of Primus, is that if Moogfest only booked bands that I liked, I'd be faced with concurrent-multi-venue impossible decision after impossible decision.
