I remember in 2008 the books were more valuable than water that year. They had none fer my group at the gates. We couldn't find any at our POD, or inside Centeroo. My neighbor managed to get me one Sunday. I was guardin' that with my life. I wouldn't even let my campmates take it outta arms reach from me.
And then it fell outta my pocket in the Cinema Tent while we took a break from the heat. I still wish I could find a 2008 booklet. It's the only year I'm missin'.
But I also recall them in short supply last year. They told us they were out at the gate we entered that put us in POD 11. Me and Jury managed to get one each though sometime Friday.
Even still I've taken to writin' down the artists I plan to see and that schedule.
The tackiest thing that happened to me last year was when my Craigslist driver snatched the "one booklet per car" out of my hands Being there was only two of us in the car and I was a girl (ha!) he obviously should've found his own booklet--
At the time I did not realize what a hot commodity these were-- should have faught harder to keep it!
I recommend carrying a taser this time. Should take care of that.
The last time I received a book I remember that the artist interviews/bios were omitted which really sucked. It was just one huge advertisment for other festivals and sponsers. I don't really use the map anymore since I have learned my way around fairly well but the schedule was great to have. I usually print and take one with me but it was just handy having the one in the book for some reason.

Always print two schedules out to bring with me. I end up giving one to someone who needs it. I bring these in case I don't get a booklet but I've never NOT gotten a booklet/schedule. Last year I didn't have a good phone to use any apps but this year I do so might try it out.

Yeah, since I think 2009/10 especially the books have stopped bein' quite as interestin'. My 2007 one is easily twice as thick as 2011. I miss all that cool stuff they had in there.
Laminate a few schedules and maps before you go. Not only will you have a personal inventory but by laminating them, it can hold up from wear and tear as well as the weather conditions.
