I did a search before posting & didn't turn up anything like this, so I hope this is the right spot -- would it be helpful to start a thread where we can see who plans on crashing that night at Wal-mart? It might be a good oppourtunity to meet up & make some friends & neighbors before Roo, or at least a caravan so the line in doesn't suck so badly.
I & my three friends will be crashing at Wal-mart Wednesday night -- we have a 20 hour drive from Vermont and will need to, at the very least, stretch and frolic and get some sleep before getting in line early Thursday morning.
Anyone else have plans to crash at Wally world? ;D
I drive from MA every year. Last year we left tuesday night to get there wednesday afternoon and they were letting people set up camp. We were set up before sundown. I imagine they will do the same thing this year.

I always do Wally on Wednesday night. I'm getting married in April so won't have as much off time this year but still plan on stopping by for the night. See ya for the party. I'll be in the Mexcian restaurant in the same shopping center. They have good grub...

Wow. I didn't know you could camp out in the lot that long. We usually pull into town Wednesday, check out Wal-Mart for a bit in order to introduce any new 'rooer's to the mad throng. It's a six year tradition, but after spending about an hour there we move onto a campground for the night.

I'll be there. Camping at wally world Wednesday night, heading in early Thursday morning. Be glad to caravan in with you guys. My girlfriend and I are coming in from north GA, so we're planning on being at Wal Mart by 4-6pm on Wednesday night. Are you planning on camping by your car or tent only? Cause if you're car camping, we'd love to have some cool neighbors.

me and my buddy are flying into nashville tuesday night, from there we plan on getting a ride (if possible, if not, we'll suck it up and pay for an expensive taxi) to wal-mart as soon as we can. really looking forward to the wal-mart scene. we are flying frm LA, and this will be my first time doing roo with no car. less to weigh down our experience!!!!

There is a lady who gets on here every year offering rides, there may be a slight flaw in your plans though Wal mart is a good 2 miles from Bonnaroo. We can probably get people to help with your gear, but you will still have to find rides in. I don't think it will be real hard just ask around the camp inforoo threads and make sure you get it covered.

Ah thanks for the heads up, we will definitely plan accordingly. Still an option for us to rent as a car as well. I was also under the impression that the Wal-mart was walk-able. So I suppose that changes thing. But we will work something out.
This is the only time in the history of the world where anyone would "really be looking forward to the Walmart scene."
Well I guess the people's i've talked to made it seem much more of a big tailgate than it actually is? I wouldn't say I'm married to the idea, I just thought it'd be something for us to do to pass the time before roo.
ME! I hope we can all gather in a protective circle like bison. I have a poopy back and need to nap on top of our sedan instead of in it that night, and last year I tried sleeping outside at Wally World and this quacked up guy without an arm sat down next to me and talked me awake and desperately begged me for corn, then got really upset when I gathered up my stuff and got in the car.
Hopefully this year will be safer, unless that quacked up guy was one of you

we never camp in the lot, but we always end up spending a few hours there on wednesday. although this year we want to go in earlier, so we'll only be there in the afternoon

can someone explain the traffic route? can you get right on I24 wednesday and enter the I24 bonnaroo entrance? or do you have to take back roads that lead you too the east entrance?
Post by natedagreat on Apr 3, 2012 16:13:00 GMT -5
Wednesday, yes. I have a feeling the only one being used until early Thursday morning is the I24 entrance. The drive from Wal-Mart isn't bad until early Thursday morning where they route the overflow from I24 to Asbury Rd. I am skeptical where you will be put using this entrance because I've heard different things. Some go in there too early and get BFE, others get there and get prime location. Then, if you're like me, show up fashionably late on Thursday morning and get Super BFE. I'm going to try this route again this year, except I will get in line about 5:30 am on Thursday, hoping for a sweet spot.
So the route from Wal-Mart DOES put you into the I-24 line? That's my ideal entrance since it looks like it will yield the best camp spots (true?). I was under the impression that the Wal-Mart crowd would be routed through local roads to the West Tollbooth...not onto I-24 for the Highway Tollbooth
