It's April 27th and from what I understand it's free. The lineup was just announced today....The Avett Brothers, Ludacris, Young the Giant and David Mayfield Parade.
We are about 4 hrs away but are considering making the drive since its free and especially because I'm really into the Avetts right now.
I just don't know if the whole college atmosphere is going to be a big pain in the ass and worth the effort. It's been awhile since we've been in college (13 yrs) and I feel like I'm too old to be dealing with a bunch of drunk college kids looking to party and will be ruining the show.
I'm pretty much assuming it will be like this since it's at a college but was hoping someone has been that could give some more insight.
The fact that Penn State is calling this the "Movin' On" festival enrages me for some reason. Like, it may not be on purpose, but with the recent events at the school and the way much of the country has perceived the administration, students and fans as just wanting to "move on" and "heal" and all kinds of other B.S., it seems like a pretty foolish thing.
its been called movin on since 1974. it happens to be a bit ironic, but its supposed to be in reference to the graduating seniors moving on to their post college lives.
last year kinda sucked as it was rainy and cold, and the headliner was O.A.R. This year they really stepped it up with Avetts,Young, and Luda.
Yeah, I go to Penn State and I was a bit shocked that it is basically a Bonnaroo preview at least for me. The committee that runs it was boasting about how all the acts are going to be playing Bonnaroo. But as everyone else was saying it has been called Movin' On for years, and really has nothing to do with the mess that has been happening here lately. The festival (since I have been here) is on a bit of an incline mostly due to a huge increase in funding in the past two years. This year seems pretty awesome for a free concert. As far as annoying intoxicated college kids go, I expect them to be there especially since Luda is playing after that it probably wont be as bad..
