I didn't search around much but does anyone know when they will be updating the bonnaroo app? It's still got last years lineup but I got a ticket update from it yesterday?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but last year it was literally that Wed of Bonnaroo weekend. I remember getting to the hotel late Wed night and updating it but it didn't take for some reason and we had to leave to get to the farm and I was never able to update it without wi-fi.
Luckily my husbands updated correctly so we at least had it on his phone.
Does anyone know why it took so long last year? I know the schedule came out early May right? You'd think they could do it after that point and not last minute.
Last year it was right before the festival. It was also a largeupdate, so you had to be connected to wifi, lots of folks got left out due to already traveling and whatnot. The year before, it was a little earlier, but still within a week of the start of Roo. No idea why they do this or if this pattern will continue, but I would not expect the artist/schedule update until June.
Last year they screwed up and admitted it. They apologized for taking so long to get the update out, and it was the day before Roo started that it went out. In 2010 it was out much earlier (and IMO was a much better app).
Honestly the app was a lifesaver for me my first year (2010). Instead of having to unfold a brochure to find where I wanted to go on the map, I simply pulled up the app and had everything I needed at my fingertips.
Hopefully they're more on the ball with the update this year.
Last year was indeed a fail. I was already on the road, driving my RV into Tennessee. Because of its size, I couldn't download it without Wifi. This year they better make up for it by giving us something awesome.
smartphone users...how do you plan on keeping your phone alive during the festival?
I have a battery pack used for jump starting car batteries I got from Wal-Mart for about $30. It also has a USB port on the front. Last year I just made sure it was charged up before we left, and just plugged my phone in nightly, just like if I was at home.
how many external iphone batteries must be used? Where can I find them?
Depends on how much you use your phone. I took two externals last year and it served me well enough, but I still had to watch the amount of web browsing I was doing while killing time waiting on shows to start and stuff like that.
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
I just bought an energizer portable charger for our iPhones at Target tonight. It was regularly $60 on sale for $40. I checked the reviews on Amazon before I bought it and it had a good rating.
Just an FYI (esp. for 'Roo 1st-timers): the app is positively vampirific on your battery!
To conserve iPhone battery life:
1. Switch to 3G network; it has less battery drain than 4G. 2. Stay in Airplane mode whenever possible (unless your friends simply cannot contact you any other way!) 3. If absolutely necessary, turn off phone between shows.
When your battery gets to Red Bar zone, recharge it at one of the free charging stations, usually located at the Fuse Barn. Drop it off, get a claim ticket & leave it there for 30 minutes. It's safe & easy.
If you're VIP, can charge in the tents...there are always plenty of outlets, and Apple chargers are fairly ubiquitous there, too.

There is no iphone 4g. If you mean turn off 3g and use Edge network, that isn't possible in iOS 5. It is rumored to be coming back in iOS 5.1, but I guess we have to wait and see.
You may have a crappy old lap top, or know someone who does that you can borrow. You can just use the battery to charge your iphone. Turn the screen to lowest settings, have the hard drive turn off after a couple of minutes, etc. Even a really poor laptop battery should give you a few full iphone charges.

Thanks for the clarification, eron. Surely most iPhone users got the gist of my apparently poorly-worded post written at 3am under the influence of a lovely Malbec.
Bottom line: my iPhone 3GS fared better @ 'Roo '10 than my 4S did @ Moog '11 because I was able to switch from 3G to 2G network.
That said: the app is great. Glad to see it rolled out early.

Come March 7th (or shortly there after) you will probably be able to switch back to 2g if you want to.

The "There Tent" existed last year too. It wasn't a performing tent...don't remember exactly what it was but it wasn't anything special. I remember seeing it when I was at the Which Stage acts. I think it was just a vendor tent of some sort.

Oh, I remember it now. It was between the Cinema Tent and the Which Stage. It was sponsored by a car insurance company and had fans and such set up.
