Arrival... I'm actually moving cross country and will have my belongings so I am boarding my dog at a boarders nearby. For this reason I believe its necessary to show up Wednesday. I have no idea what time. If I'm early afternoon will the roads be manageable?
I will be camping next to the car. If I show up early Wednesday does that mean I will be in BFE 45 minute walk from a stage?
If I want to get up close is it like a regular show where you can just work your way up? I've read they enclose the pit which is awesome. Nobody will be trampled like some shows past... can you get in the pit once the band starts? Can you crowdsurf into the pit? Can you start a pit without being in the pit area? Does that happen? Can you crowdsurf without being in the pit area?
How long is the wait to get out if you leave Sunday? Is it a giant clusterf#ck? Are their late night shows Sunday? If I wait till Monday to leave how long will the wait be?
I have minimal space as the majority of my life will be cramped in my car. Does anyone have any suggestions on bonnaroo necessities that take little space?
CENSORED I'm sure local and outlaying counties make a fortune off of arrests. Do I have need be to be worried about security? I live in a tourist town, police aren't hardasses because if they busted everyone they could the festivities would have a horrible reputation and people wouldn't partake. Are they their to protect us or ruin the party?
-Wednesday traffic wasnt bad last year as long as you stayed off the interstate
-There is no correlation to when you get in and where you get put
-You can work your way up to the front like normal shows, just be polit about it. The pit opens before the band goes on, so for the bigger bands they will most likely be full before the set starts.

Stop asking crowd surfing questions. Just stay on the ground.
If you leave Sunday , you can generally get right out.
No late night shows on Sunday
Monday is a little tougher to get out, but nowhere near as bad as getting in.

This is all I can really add advise for. Get to the show you want to see early enough to claim your own spot, because others have done the same and "will" be in front of you. Be nice and stay where you arrived. Unless the crowd surges forward you shouldn't on your own.
The other things are more or less a crapshoot. What ever time you leave could put you in BFE or as close as possible for GA, plus i know from searching last year there are ton's of post's about this, try searching.
When we left last year we waited about 45 min till we got out, but we left before WSP played to beat the traffic.
When it comes to the no no word, I used to partake but no longer can, you should not talk about it, I believe its forbidden here.

The search function on this page SUCKS! and most people don't think to use google search. For the OP, any question you have search it in google and add inforoo and you should come up with an answer.

If you push your way up through the crowd, attempt to crowd surf or start a mosh pit, and act like a brah, Ol' Sproat will find you. I suggest you hold off on those things.
And your last paragraph, please delete or a mod will boot you from this forum. Then you'll never be able to find any answers and will end up lost and broke on the farm come June.

Apparently I came as concert noob and not a Bonnaroo noob. I know my concert etiquette. I'm not dckhead crowd surfer with boots going up while The Beach Boys are playing from halfway across the fest.
I doubt they would even let you in with a car full of random possessions. If they do expect them to dig through it all and take EVERYTHING that is glass. They don't screw around with that one. I suggest you find some place to leave you vehicle and get a ride in.

- if your worried about being in BFE b/c of coming in early wednesday then hang around manchester for a day (BFE isnt the worst thing that could happen)
- crowdsurfing is allowed at Mastadon shows only
- if you plan on leaving early u can unless you are parked in. the cluster**** isnt as bad leaving as it is coming in since people filter out from sunday to monday
- and if you do have glass that you dont want them to take, be sure to get the right guy at check in and some money to pay him off (try at own risk). that was the only way we got a trunk full of 150+ beer bottles into Roo '05.....or just dont take glass.....or rent a storage space for a weekend
- there are alot of people at bonnaroo expect for some lines and cramped conditions at certain times
- dont do anything blatently stupid and dont let your head get to far away from your body and you wont have to worry about the cops or security
I've only once had any trouble getting out in less than 20 minutes, and that was during the Sunday headliner in 07. Of course, every other year I have left midway through Sunday..
Also, like they said, avoid talking about illegal substances on inforoo. You did a good job of editing that last paragraph, but just a heads up. (But, in your defense, people talk about eating "corn" all the time on here and no one says shit.)

In my 7 years of going, I've found out that there is really no way to guarantee getting a good camping spot.
Law enforcement shuts down different exits/has people lineup on the interstate randomly. And the gate you enter doesn't matter either. One year I entered the gate by the interstate, and ended up camping in BFE
I don't remember ever seeing any crowd surfing at Bonnaroo, except when Alexis from Sleigh Bells did it last year. But that's a performer doing it.
My very first Roo show was Band of Skulls. In the first five minutes someone crowdsurfing got tossed over to us. He nailed my friend in the face with his shoe and kicked her glasses off. That's when we went from "mild-mannered and timid Vermont tourists" to "holy freakin crap BONNAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Actually on the first page of Inforoo, on the left hand side, there are links to first timers guides, survival tips, etc. and if you look in the That Tent and This Tent forums, you can pretty much find anything you need. So many noobs never venture past What Stage/Troo Music Lounge and it can get really frustrating.
The threads that are really long are mostly lineup speculation threads, and threads about artists on the lineup. There are very few 20-30 page threads on stuff like "How long does it take to get out on sunday" or "how do I get into the pit for a show?"

As a first time Bonnaroo visitor this year, I'm extremely thankful for this message board. The moment I decided I was going this year, I spent countless hours looking through various threads and guides on here.
The knowledge some of the Bonnaroo veterans bring to this message board is invaluable. Nearly all of my answers have been questioned, and I've only had to create one thread trying to find the answer to something I was curious about.
Looking forward to what I hope becomes a yearly tradition.
