Hey! I have a Canon Rebel and it does have detachable lenses so it would be considered professional, but I still want to bring it, so I have a few questions. Are SLRs allowed in the campgrounds regardless? Should I just sneak it anyway? I heard a couple of people did that before and had barely any problems.
My point and shoot is broken right now, and the only one I have is pretty crappy. Thanks in advance!
You'll be fine in the campground; and unless you have a giant, professional lens, you'll likely be fine in Centeroo as well. I've seen people without press-photo passes get in professional cameras.

I'm gonna bring my DSLR with a kit lens and a 50mm 1.8 prime lens. If they turn me away at centeroo, i'll just go put it in a locker, that is, if they even notice I have a camera with me.
Last year I had my backpack full of clothes, and they didn't dig through them to the bottom or anything like that. I could totally just put it in the very bottom of my bag, and be totally fine getting in.
It's not like I'm gonna be quick switching lenses at shows or anything.
I am so torn about this. Last year I didn't bring ours because i saw that you weren't allowed. And the pictures we took were crappy but I also brought an old 35mm film camera. I just don't want to be saddled with the big dslr camera all day. We take the absolute bare minimum into Centeroo and have our necessities in a tiny purse type bag I wear. I'd have to bring a bigger bag if I brought the camera - I just don't know if I want to make that commitment.
I'm wondering if it would be worth investing in a nicer small point and shoot for occasions like this. I just saw a review on G4 the other day for a new Nikon that you can drop and take underwater. It got a good reviews so I may check that out.

I am on the fence about the higher end point and shoots. I know they get good reviews, and take really nice pics. But, for the price of those you could spend a bit more and get a sexy L lens.
After Bonnaroo I will probably take mine to get a thorough cleaning. haha
Last year for my 1st Bonnaroo, I took a crappy point & shoot in on Thursday & hated the quality of the photos I took. Once it got dark the dust showed up big time. Every day after I took my Nikon D40 in with no problems. Never had anything said to me. Just had my basic 18-55mm lens on. It did need a good cleaning after all the dust. This year I will bring it in again, probably with the 18-105mm lens this time.
Also, there is no way I could have taken the new Inforoo background photo with that stupid point & shoot. I love taking photos, so having my SLR with me made me happy!
