My friend dropped out but I really want to go so I'm considering doing Bonnaroo solo this year. I would probably fly into Nashville and use the shuttle service.
I'm concerned about what I can pack though, seeing as I'm going to have to haul everything on my own. My duffel bag of clothes and essentials is going to be heavy on it's own, and I also have to worry about a tent, some sort of shade canopy, a collapsible chair, extra drinks and food, etc.
I've considered doing the on-site tent rental to lighten my load but even then I feel like I'm going to have to forgo things that I would normally consider essential.
Does anyone have experience with this situation and any tips you could share? I'm particularly concerned about having something for shade at my tent and bringing extra waters.
I went solo last year flying in with shuttle. I did VIP camping for security and not have to worry about getting a tent only spot. I had a large backpack and carry on and it was great. VIP allowed for more creature comforts including free showers, chairs, tents, charging and internet stations, air conditioned bathroom, and easy access to centeroo. It also had many perks. This year I am doing tent only with my niece.
At roo even though you come solo you are never alone.
I did this last year and will do it this year. Tho I have my beautiful and charming gf with me, I carry the bulk of the load. Small tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bag, clothes, and other essentials can be carried in one checked bag and one carry on for flights. Clothes and anything non threatening in carry on, and supply's in the other.
If its still too heavy to carry on ur own, there are those golf cart taxis available if ya can track one down. Just plan it out and don't take anything you won't need. Lots of friendly people around to help you out.
