I have enjoyed inforoo a great deal. Many of the long-time posters here have taught me something about music and festivals. I appreciate that, and although I'm a newbie, I've lurked in the past, the turn inforoo has taken the past few days saddens me.
Many of the people who deactivated had great information for me :-)! And, Bacon, you're really nice and a positive member of this board: you always answered my "newbie" questions and if it wasn't for you and whoreshack, I probably wouldn't be going to Forecastle this year.
As an outsider looking in, I agree with what many people have said here: emotions got out of control and tempers flared way too much. Which, unfortunately, that happens a little too much on inforoo. Sometimes, the silly arguments and condescending, smug, negative comments people make really detract from the awesomeness of this place. I generally ignore these things on here, but sometimes they dominate the conversations and make me wanna not contribute.
This is just an outsider's take on the situation at hand. Overall, inforoo is great! But, some posters take things way too far. I thought this was a great year for most on here with Radiohead/Phish? Shouldn't everyone be happy! :-)
Most of them will be back before Bonnaroo. I don't know why they deleted their accounts, though. Seems overly-dramatic. Just don't log in for a while. Now it's going to be sad for them when they come back, because they acted like they were making a final decision by deleting their accounts. But I have no doubt some of them will be back. Not all, but some will definitely be back.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Get me drunk by 10am and give me a microphone and I will show you an awkward brunch.
I was gonna type how glad I was to see these fuckers gone. Talk about how I know Juggs is smarter than me and that pisses me off, makes me jealous, and how he got me in trouble, because I use to view his old avatar and try to brush the sand off of it, and how that got me in trouble at work. I was gonna say how happy I was Flanzo was gone, because his avatar reminded me of back in the day smoking blunts, playing Spades. Those were some good times! I miss those days. Carefree. Everyday you fucking reminded me of that time and how I missed it. Thanks *name calling*! I was gonna talk about how I am not gonna miss Zapp's awesome hair. How I have dreams of a head of hair like that. I was gonna go on and say some comical reverse psychology 101 type stuff, but I reconsidered.

Please someone bring a microphone and feed Scrog booze. This sounds awesome.
That was always the plan!
I knew I could count on you and Fawn. Can people bring bullhorns? Just imagine Scrog wandering around GA camping yelling stuff at people. It would be the best show all weekend.
Sproat might kill us though, especially if there is booze involved.
I just wanted to say something about this whole situation, and it kind of is based off what Bacon said. Over the past two years but especially in the last year, I have grown quite attached to this board and many of the people on it. Some people whose opinions I trust on things more than most of my own friends, and other people who I really would enjoy getting know better. Many of those people left inforoo in the past few days. I sincerely hope they come back, because I do still truly believe that the banning of emoney was 100% vendetta-based and had very little to do with his actual quality as a poster. I think that a select few thin-skinned people here, not just mods, had a vendetta with him, and would actively report posts that most people had absolutely no problem with. I think that annoyed the mods more than his actual posting, and since certain people they personally knew already had a beef with him, they just banned him thinking it would go unnoticed. They figured that people couldn't possibly care THAT much about emoney.
But clearly they did. I'm sorry mods, I understand you were doing what you may have thought was best for the forum, but how do you still not understand that it was wrong? I don't know the specifics of who agrees/disagrees with the ban, but how can you not see that a great deal of your regularly posting community thought it was an unfair overreaction. I don't know if at this point it's just to prove who is in charge, or to prove that mods DON'T make passionate, irrational decisions based on emotion rather than feeling, or just simply to stick to your guns, but regardless, I really believe that it was the wrong thing to do.
And look what it is doing to inforoo. All you people who are saying, "oh they'll be back" or "if they don't come back then good riddance," how can you say this and still claim to be a part of the "inforoo community'? We lost many extremely nice (some not so nice), knowledgable, dedicated posters who clearly loved this board. Doesn't it mean anything to you guys that people who average 50-100 posts a day here find something the mods have done so out-of-line that they actually leave the forum? That means something to me. I think that we were always a free, open minded community who would only censor someone when it was really warrented, I.E the racist tirades in the Wooks v. Brahs thread. We never really got a true explanation of why emoney was banned, or why Bacon was "mistakenly" banned at all. Instead we get posts where several of us get quoted saying things that he "didn't deserve to get banned for," acting like all of these things tallied up to some reprehensible offense.
Finally, I've always loved that this board had two, sometimes more, different sides of vastly varying opinions. That means passionate discussion, and that means that sometimes peoples feathers are going to get ruffled. Some people, like me or Jess (I'm using us both as examples because him and I fight all the time with each other, but neither of us, to my knowledge, has reported each other to the mods or PMed anyone about the other being out of line or anything). We are like fire and water when it comes to most things. As everyone on here knows, we fight all the quacking time. But it's usually about nonsense and at the end of the day we can still have a rational, friendly, reasonable conversation. There is no bad blood, at least on my end, despite the insane amount of arguing we do. Because it's arguing about things we are both passionate about. That is the ONLY thing that emoney and bacon were guilty of, and I still hope that soon, down the road, we can unban him and put this all behind us.
I do not plan to leave this board at this point. However, if things to keep going in this direction, and our mods continue to make unfair decisions based on their personal feelings, and people who genuinely add to this community continue to be banned, even if they do occasionally rub someone the wrong way, I will have to rethink my decision to stay. I love Bonnaroo and I love that I have a place where hundreds of people share that same love, but I think it's completely ridiculous the way that this entire situation has been handled by those who maintain this board.
Sorry for the rant, I'm sure it was tl;dr for most of you and that's totally okay, because it was more me venting than anything. I just sincerely hope that one day I can enjoy posting again with s2, awatd, karosko, juggs, flanzo, and of course, Mr. E. Money.

Edit: Scrog AND Lono.
Last year MikeD brought his boombox and mic for the festivities and I'm pretty sure he's agreed to do that again. We will need them for more Happy Dancing!

I say this with 100% sincerity, I have closer relationships with people from this board than any of my friends off the board. This board has it's own family-like feeling I've never encountered on any other internet forum. For me, the internet IS serious business. We live in a internet wired world, as much as people deny it. You don't need to see someone everyday to maintain friendships.

Wow guess I missed alot of stuff. I have many things going on and decided that going to Wanee suited me more this year, but maybe in a few weeks if tickets are available I might still go to Roo. The bands this year just did not offer a big WOW for me personally. I find it interesting that someone could be banned from this. Really? I mean first there are filters that prevent certain words, but CAN YOU GET IT"S JUST SOMEONES OPINION or not maybe they are just funning to play with your head. I don't need a cleaned up world where everyone is nice much less a cleaned up internet. For those who left, I hope to see you in the real world.
