Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I just want to echo what Fawn said so well. I have been a member of this board since 2008, but after dipping my toes initially, I watched some of the people who walked this week harass someone like me over the bands that they like and decided to be a lurker instead.
Over the past 4 years, I have visited often and watched the same thing time and time again, which has kept me from posting. Recently, I have decided to try posting again, and I have found people like Fawn, Bonzai, and others to be great, and others to be not so great.
To me, and it seems like a lot of you, Bonnaroo is about having a great time, and sending good vibes to everyone you meet. This Inforoo has some of the biggest Roo fans on it, but at times, this board eats its young. IMO, this has limited the growth of this community.
Because of some of the people I have interacted with on this board, I may stop by for the brunch to meet some of you this year. I know that I am a newbie to the community here, but maybe after the drama of the last few days, the community can be more accepting of differences in opinions.
Personally, I don't think those worth having would be scared off by our (really very mild) teasing we sometimes take part in.
Except plenty of people have said that they have been scared off. While your teasing can be mild a lot of times it tends to have a mob mentality a lot of people find off putting.
Isnt that the same mentality I had in this thread when people were leaving and you and others gave me poop for?
Who are we talking about now, phantom posters who have up and quit because we've been too mean or posters who contributed thousands and thousands (not me) of worthwhile posts and become big parts of the community?

And those same posters you are referring to were once noobs at one point.

Nodepression, it is not a matter of being scared off or mild teasing. Most people can handle that. Just be aware that what you think you said, and what someone read are very different. Also, to echo Pbateman, once the lynch mob forms, what was once very mild teasing can get to be much worse as the ball rolls down the hill.
I grew up in Buffalo, and hopefully we can meet at Roo this year.
How are you going to contribute and be more than wallpaper if you can't take, once again incredibly, some would even say relaxing, teasing?
We've all grown up meeting people that don't handle it well. And I guess I'm saying that people can be more callous on a message board than they would be in person. At least that's my take. I know I've been guilty of typing sh*t my mouth might have a tough time saying. Especially after a few Irish whiskeys.

Not "phantom posters", NoD... there is a strong territorial vibe in the Troo Music Lounge that is off-putting to more than just noobs or long-time lurkers. Hell, I lurked for 3yrs before joining and another year before venturing outside the safety of the Arcade!
Once I got to know more of y'all, there was ZERO intimidation...but before then? I guess it kinda felt like being the new kid at school who couldn't break into the popular kids' clique. Maybe that's why the Arcade seems more welcoming to noobs: we're the golden retrievers of the board, ready to play ball with anybody. But some other threads seem to be guarded by German shepherds with loud, snarling barks.
Ah hell, you get my drift, hopefully. My chocolate-lager drenched logic is fuzzy at the moment. I love all of y'all, but damn...sometimes it ain't easy gettin' past the guard dogs!

Just post The Men's lastest album in the Now Playing thread and you will be safe.

Nicely articulated, Holls; not even fuzzy logic.
Gots to get myself some of that chocolate lager, apparently.

Nod.. what I was trying to say is that as Noobs... We come here - we read- we listen, and (sorry scrog) GDammit - we love to hear what you have to say, love hearing about the music.. I ask you to take one minute to think about this. You have a gazillion posts.. you have a voice in a forum that peeps love. Which gives you influence. You can use that for good or bad. You choose. Educate, enlighten, or cut people down.
Whether you like it or not, whether deserved or not,k new posters to I-Roo extend respect to the seniors. Use it better folks!
Whoreshack/Juggs- where the hell are you..... tear this up and lighten the mood please!

I think I've actually been doing this more lately. Or at least have been trying.
I dunno, I have an extremely sarcastic sense of humor, so even when I was a noob I wasn't put off by anythin' here. Though I don't think anyone ever poked fun at me fer anythin' either. Wouldn't have bothered me though.

look, like everyone else, i'm trying not to bring up any old beef but you can't really believe that everything you say comes across as teasing. part of the reason we don't really fight any more is because i completely stay out of the troo music lounge. in fact, the last music thread i tried to post in (the bleep bloop one) juggs tried to make me feel stupid for liking to dance to burial and you liked all his postings belittling me. you guys can be kind of harsh sometimes.

German Shepherds? More like Cerberus.
A lot of the members on this board have a vast knowledge of musical acts. So, despite the fact that they have introduced me to numerous amounts of great ones. They get a little carried away sometimes.
Just post The Men's lastest album in the Now Playing thread and you will be safe.
This. Both because that album is the jam and because Now Playing is the easiest thread to break into in TML. The very rare times you see anyone dislike a post in there is usually because it's somebody giving someone they know crap.
