Check out this highlight video to re-live the 2011 experience, and stay tuned for 2012 lineup and ticket news soon!
I skipped this last year due to a lineup that wasnt really suited to my tastes, hoping for some good additions this year!
**Updated Info** Next BIG Nashville presents SoundLand 2012 - Oct 6th, 2012 SoundLand Music Festival 2012: a one-day outdoor extravaganza with music, art, food & more at The Lawn at Riverfront Park in downtown Nashville.
I am glad that they are having it a weekend later this year. Went out of town that weekend last year and will be out of town the same weekend this year. I went to it in 2010 and had fun. Will keep my eyes open for this one.
The format has changed this year. It will be a one day festival on October the 6th. The lineup will be released tomorrow. Right now, they have a pre-sale going on for $30.

Wow, they really blew their wad on the headliner, huh?
Snark aside, I'll probably be there. It's roughly the same price as an average MMJ show, with the bonus of Divine Fits and Pujol. I might be living in Nashville then anyway.
Crap. I was hoping I could save some money and skip this one, but it's MMJ within stumbling distance from my house. I'm gonna walk over to Riverfront as the mayor of hammer town after the beer fest from 1-5.

I'm so there. MMJ alone would get me there... yes I need to see them 4 times a year. YTG was the most energetic show I saw at Roo this year. They are great!

Who cares who else is on the lineup with MMJ being announced, that's good enough to sell to me right there! My Morning Jacket show number 3 of 2012 ( minus the overpass and Louisville Belle).

Looking like a possibility for me and couple friends to come down from Chicago. We can't find a close hotel room, everything is 200++ a night. Any suggestions?
Is there a Nashville meet up? Maybe I'll come to this one since I missed the Forecastle ones.

Anything downtown will be ridic. If you'll have your own car I'd look at hotels near the airport, its only about a 10min drive away. There are also lots of hotels over by Opry Mills/Gaylord Hotel.

Would prefer not to drive, I think Nashville would thank us for that one.
Are taxi's pretty plentiful? I can get a Friends and Family rate at the Sheraton Music City. How much would a taxi cost for that? Right now we're staying at the Ramada in on the other side of the football arena at $~80 a night.
The Ramada Inn isnt too bad. Just dont stray too far from there in that area and avoid the "Stadium Inn" at all costs.
You're actually within walking distance from the Ramada, I'd do that. Its about a mile treck by the staidum and over the pedestrian bridge to waterfront park.
I may go to this for MMJ. If you don't know Kopecky Family Band, they're awesome. My buddy Steven is in it. Quality people for sure.
YES, THEY ARE AWESOME! I've only seen them once (in the tiny club behind Grimey's that holds what...about 100 people?) when they opened for The Lumineers, and they blew me away!
Soundland is where I'll be if I can't get tix to FreeFest. Damn, why do they have to be the same day?!?

Your best bet might be the downtown Comfort Inn on Demonbreun near 14th. It's nothing special, but it's close enough to walk to the main downtown area or take a super cheap cab ride. My parents usually stay there when they come to town. Looks like its about $130 per night that weekend, which isn't bad split a few ways.

The Homewood suites and Townplace suites on Elm Hill Pike, and the Hyatt Place and Country Inn & Suites - all near the airport, are almost always $107 a night (or less) and there are tons of cabs around here. It is about a 15 minute drive to downtown from there, so probably not a huge cab fare.
Just bought tix to this at last week's Live on the Green. They were selling tix using the early bird price ($30) which are now sold out so I jumped on it! Besides MMJ and Kopecky Family Band, what others should we check out?

JD McPherson should be an interesting act to check out. When I first heard "North Side Gal" on the radio, I thought it was a Wilson Pickett tune I hadn't heard before. I was surprised to hear it was a white elementary school teacher from Oklahoma.
