I haven't watched wrestling since the early 90's but I think they need to have a wrestling channel that shows all the old Wrestlmania's and different events. I can spend hours sometimes watching all those old promos and matches on youtube!

It's coming! Supposed to launch sometime around November.

This is great news! Greatest of the Week.... Perhaps
It;s supposed to have a little bit of everything. Including a real world style reality show feature a bunch of old timers tentatively titled "Legends House". I'm definitely looking forward to the insanity that ensues there.
Huh. I just found out that a member of a band I love is a distant relative of Matt & Jeff Hardy. Not related at all to the thread but just a random bit of knowledge I acquired.
Okay, XXVII was last year... I was at that. Okay show... really, only Punk vs. Orton and HHH vs. Undertaker were great. The rest was nothing to write home about.
28 looks incredible, though. Rock/Cena should be fun, Jericho/Punk will be excellent if given time, and HHH/Taker should be great with the cage.

Glad to see someone bit! Last year kinda made me lower my bar. Not in a bad way, but in general I expect it to be about the spectacle, grand entrances and such, and less about the matches. Save for the main events, which seem to be the only ones given enough time to be of ultimate quality. For example, I think every member of the 6 on 6 match will get an over the top entrance and the match itself will get less time. I think mania has evolved into something more akin to something like the Oscars where it is a once a year thing, where every body gets to have a great time, but the actual event itself is a little bit of a let down.
Time management at last year's show was horrible... Bryan/Sheamus got bumped off the PPV so Rock could ramble at the top of the show for 15 minutes, they could do that god awful American Idol segment, and Lawler/Cole could take up 15 more minutes than it had any right. While it was an excellent match, the whole Taker/HHH segment took an hour... seriously. On top of that, the Cena/Miz main event was terrible. But, it was still a blast being in a crowd that size that was so into everything. As a top to bottom show, though, the Raw I attended in November was better... great Primo/Kofi match on the Superstars taping, great Piper's Pit with Cena, really good Ziggler/Orton Match, Daniel Bryan's begiining of his heel turn, a good Punk/Del Rio main event, and two post show dark matches of main event quality.

I've been thinking about going to Mania 29 since it's at Giants/Jets stadium next year. It's such a huge event and always fun. I went to one in Detroit a few years back with college buddies.

It's shaping out to be one of the best cards in recent memory.
It's kind of a mind fuck to think that CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are the champs going into this year's Wrestlemania. WWE has really been treating the internet well the past year.
Definitely should be the best Mania card since 23 (Cena/HBK, Taker/Batista, great Money In The Bank, MVP/Benoit). I'm expecting their biggest PPV buy and gate in many years, as well... if last year was the most financially profitable show of all time with the card it had, this one should blow it out of the water, meaning a HUGE success.
Yeah, suffice to say, I'm pleased with Danielson and Punk being featured players, much less respective champions in the big league. I've been a fan of both guys since their days in ROH... I do believe Daniel Bryan Danielson is the best in ring performer in the entire world at this very moment, and Punk might be the best on the mic in the last decade.

See ya there!
As for Bryan...I think what got him the title and the spot in mania is his ability to make ANYONE look good in a match. I think his series of matches with Dolph Ziggler last summer is what catapulted them both to the top, but I remember the first cage match with Mark Henry(when he was still a face and chasing the title) as my woah moment, as I never in a million years though Henry could look good in a cage match.
That was a tremendous cage match, and the match that Bryan and Ziggler had on PPV in 2010 (I think it was Bragging Rights?) was my personal pick for Match Of The Year, even ahead of the Michaels retirement match.
In the case of how he came to the main event (this applies to Punk, as well)... he came in with a good amount of hype behind him, Vince didn't really want to push him because he doesn't "look" like a star, but by way of certain bookers taking a liking to him, ends up getting pushed pretty hard up the midcard. Then, they let off of him... something fierce. He went from being the guy in the midcard having great match after great match and getting over based on that, to being lost in the shuffle around the time of Mania last year, on up until he started feuding with Henry and Show. It's a case of the cream rising to the top, he was the most consistent worker, even when he wasn't pushed, and someone very important took notice and pushed him straight to the top without hesitation. Same happened with Punk recently, as well as happening with Benoit and Eddie Guerrero years earlier, and even Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, and Steve Austin in the decade prior, going back even further maybe Backlund (however, Backlund was brought in from Florida with the specific purpose of getting the strap from Superstar Graham, his push continued based on quality performances, even if Vince senior initially felt ripped on the guy... only when Hogan came back after Rocky III did they quickly place the strap on Sheik for a brief period as a transitional champ to Hogan).
Sometimes, it does actually pay to be a good, hard working performer in this industry without having the typical image one would associate with a wrestler. They really like to push guys hard, and lay off of them drastically to see how they'd react... both Punk and Bryan handled it well, and are two of the top guys in the company. They did this with others, like Orton in 04 when he won the title from Benoit and was going over Mick Foley... Orton didn't react too well, and thus didn't get his spot back up at the top until late 07.
Getting ready to watch the show tonight... word has it, Brrock Lesnar arrived in Miami yesterday and signed a one year contract, thus ending in a match next year in Jersey, one would assume with Undertaker.
Bishop, heres my Lesnar pipe dream. We all know Vinnie Mac holds grudges. Some how he coerced Lesnar into a year long contract only to have him job to the Funkasaurus on the grandest stage of them all.
Taker/HHH was great, yet again, but I don't think on the level of last year... honestly, so far, this year hasn't been as good, IMO... but we still have Jericho/Punk and Rock/Cena.
As for taker's baldness, I knew he cut his hair last year, but I thought he would have some length. Lawler explained it as he shaved his hair every day until Trips accepted his challenge. Lol.
Taker and Shawn helping Hunter to the back is a great visual.

I got off work right at HHH/Taker 3 started. I had no fucking clue Bryan got squashed like that. I figured Sheamus would win, and read that he did. But fucking 30 seconds?
He'll probably lose his rematch and go back into midcard obscurity.
He was getting over better than he was earlier in his reign, too.
Taker/HHH was a whole lot better than last year, and a whole lot better than I thought it would be. HBK's reactions while reffing helped the psychology a bit, too.
Punk/Jericho was great. Both worked really well, nice chain wrestling in the beginning and not letting the momentum of the match die down later--still throwing in reversals. Jericho was using some great in-ring psychology at the beginning, but Punk didn't really play his frustrations well in the end. Also felt like it ended a bit too abruptly. They easily had 10 more minutes in them--taken up by that godawful Brodus segment.
Standing by for Cena/Rock. I thought Cena would get more heat than he got.

Also, my call is for Cena to win. That's what usually happens in these "pass the torch" scenarios. They might start a program with Cena battling for crowd reaction as he might "lose the people" by beating the people's champion.
