I always make it a point to walk the walls over the weekend at some point. I got tons of pics from the walls the last few years at least. And last year I took my D40 so i probably snapped even more pics over the weekend. But I thought othr than the commisioned art (Stencils and stuff) by Workforce Rebellion, there was a marked decline in the really good art on the walls. 2009 was a particularly good year down there for graffiti I thought.
And BDNT....I too am an obsessive graff photographer. And its a hobby that was partially a result of all the pics i took an art i was exposed too over the years at Roo. I mean I've always liked it....but it definately renewed and strengthened my interest in it. As a hobby now, i regularly look for and photograph graff all around nashville. Go crawl some tracks and get in an abandoned building here and there, so i can see what i find locally. And a lot of the art posted are local artists btw. I've met and watched a good few of them paint on legal walls and stuff. I am a nut for street art of all forms.
That said the art that blew my mind the most was the one in centeroo that the Japanese guys painted over the weekend last year for disaster relief for Japan. Watching this develope over the weekend was awesome.
I LOVE this mural, and I remember not getting back around to take a pic of it because this was the year I flew in (lot of setup etc in tent only, kind of got caught up in the party favors..) Glad to hear there are a lot of locals - I think the reason there was a decline last year is because the writers who travel in didn't really love the lineup so much. Plus the big letters already stenciled were ugly as sin -- from the marked raise in excitement over RH/Phish -- I expect way more writers this year. Which is a yaaaay
