yeahhh... all good for me. the undercard is pretty weak. i see what they're trying to go for, and it'll grow if this year is successful, but not this year.

My prediction is that it will either
a. go horribly wrong due to poor execution. The website is evidence that this is their "first rodeo" doing something of this magnitude. Every day there's some sort of error. Also, "The East Coast's Premier Music Experience" sounds more like a corporate mission statement than a slogan. Just one more way that they don't understand the "scene" or the type of people that they want to be reaching out to. The whole website has a "suit" feel to it. Maybe I'm just being a nitpicker.
b. Be completely AWESOME but in doing so, will end up wanting to make it bigger/at a bigger venue in the future since Dover won't be able to handle something of the size of Roo.
Just my two cents...but I'm extremely excited that this is practically in my back yard and I'm definitely gonna go!

It's always fascinating to me the point of view different fests fans have. The "quiet hours" thing is standard mumbo jumbo for the majority of festivals that aren't Bonnaroo. I've never seen it tame a party in the campgrounds though. It pretty much just keeps people from blasting amplified music all night or similar annoying as hell things, and even then that's usually only enforced when someone complains. It really is a complete non-issue. It's not like they turn the lights out and tell everyone it's bed time. I wouldn't let that make your decision, You have more chance of having a noise issue at a hotel than at the campgrounds, that's for sure.
I'm from the area and this is going to be awesome. If you don't feel like camping there are about 5 or 6 hotels within walking distance. I'm camping the whole weekend because driving in and out everyday will be a pain in the ass. If you are going I suggest camping or getting a close hotel and walk.
Well the grounds the festival is on does hold 2 nascar races a year. I really don't know how it's going to be. Delaware isn't used to something like this. Most people don't even know Delaware is a state.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Look, none of you guys can possibly be as excited as I am for this. I live in Dover. I have dreamed of good music coming to DE for years. Not only is it coming to Delaware, it's coming to Dover. We don't get a single good gotdamn thing in Dover like this. The best concert I think we've had in Dover in my entire life was probably The Beach Boys at Dover Downs, just to give some context here. Our entertainment consists of five bars, a sh**ty movie theater and a bowling alley. I filled out an application to volunteer the second I heard about it. I honestly thought it was an April Fool's joke when I saw it. I can sleep at my house, wake up, and practically walk there. I can probably hear it while sitting in my hot tub sippin on that whiskey. So yeah. Suck on that. The Black Keys will almost literally be in my backyard. #winning
Now imagine if you could have exactly what you just described, but take away firefly and put in bonnaroo. So yeah. Suck on that, radiohead, rhcp, and phish will be in my back yard. #winning ;D
the bit on the website about 2 am - 7 am quiet hours are pretty lame.. gonna hotel it up, camping at this thing doesn't seem worth it.
yeah, but they say that there are "quiet hours" but most of the time, rules like this are put on websites as a disclaimer. I've been to these lots for race week parties (embracing my inner redneck) and they say the same thing, but I got news, there are never quiet hours out there. not a big deal. its actually a really good place to camp.

Pissed this is the same weekend as artscape, artscape is always such an amazing (free) time but being 2 hours away from me in Baltimore, I can't not go to this. I'll miss you, artscape and I hope you get awful artists to play this year so it won't be hard for me to not go.
but yes, this lineup is off the hook and I can't wait.

Not a fan of Killers, and I've already seen Black Keys this year, but Jack White and Flaming Lips are pretty enticing! Looking forward to additions, but I'll probably get up there anyway
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
So I am not going to drive 11 hours to get so close to the beach and not go for a few days after... any of you locals care to throw out an idea or two for what beach would be best to go to for a day or two after?
I think that they will be able to handle this one OK. I have attended the NASCAR races there since 2000. This is a area that gets 130,000 people attending a race twice a year. I know that the Dover Mall added a large RV camping area a couple of years ago for the races, I wonder if this also had something to do with it.
On our RV email conformation it says that the gates open at 6 AM on Friday. Our plan is to get there on Thursday evening, if nessarry I will find a walmart parking to to spend the night.
Bonnaroo, DMB at Hershey Park, Firefly then Hot Buttered Rum in Jim Thorpe. It will be a good June & July.

If you're looking to party go to Dewey Beach. That beach is pretty legendary. If you are just looking to chill I suggest Rehoboth, Lewis, or betheny. If I were you I would get a room at the beach ASAP, most are probably already booked but you could still find something decent.
All beaches are about 45 minutes to a hour from Dover.

ditto... Dewey is basically a college town with no college. Awesome times. Tuesday is dollar night at North Beach bar. Dollar Dewey Devils (some type of frozen thing) and Bud Lights and never any cover charge. It's a little off the beaten path in Dewey but it's my favorite. And make sure you get donuts at the fractured prune. And make sure you get pizza at Nicola's, NOT EFFING GROTTOS!!! And if you're a craft beer connoisseur, book a tour at the Dogfish Head brewery in Milton, which is a hop, skip, and jump north of Rehoboth. Their micro-pub is in Rehoboth. The tour comes with a free beer sampling too. The fudge at the Candy Kitchen is pretty good too.
Some friends just texted me about this today and they trying to make this happen, so Firefly might be back on my radar! That might push OSL out though..

For the record... I love how everyone from Delaware brags about how far away from the track they live (me being the most guilty), because it doesn't exactly matter where you are in DE, you can throw a rock and pretty much hit the track.
So I pretty much JUST found out about this little fest and I for one LOVE the lineup. Jack White being on the lineup alone is enough reason for me to go to this! Right now it'll only be my boyfriend and I traveling down. If there's one or two people looking for a ride and/or campmates we are coming from MA and looking to split the campsite fee with someone. PM me if you are interested.
I'm just gonna say this for anyone planning on going... If you don't want to waste your money on the camping pass, there's places all around Dover and the surrounding area where you can camp during large events like this, especially if you have an RV. If you don't end up camping right in town, it is a short drive to a couple state parks, Killen's Pond in Felton being the first that comes to mind. Also, the state fair is going on at the same time as this, so if you want to get away for a bit, head down and check that out. Good times. If you're a alt-gospel fan, the Casting Crowns play down there Friday night, if you're a country fan, Sugarland plays there Saturday night, and if you're a classic rock fan, Styx and Cheap Trick play there Sunday night. IF you feel like detouring from the festival, by chance.
