Somehow I have gotten hooked on this show. I think it's mostly due to the hilarity that Steven Tyler brings into my life, but it's actually really entertaining and it's nice to have music as a primetime television option when hanging out with the family. We have lots of fun watching it, and talk about who our favorites are and who we could actually see listening to after it's over. There are some really amazing singers on there this year.
My favorite is Phillip Phillips. He has a Dave Matthews vibe about him, and is probably the most unique performer on the show. He is one of the few who I could actually see myself listening to once it's over.
There have been some really amazing performances so far. Another favorite of mine is Joshua Ledet. I could see him being a great gospel singer but would really hope he goes in the soul/r&b route. His voice gives me goosebumps every time he performs.
The latter video is a duet with another fantastic performer, Jessica Sanchez. She's sixteen and sings like she has been doing it for years and years.

I actually watched the first few episodes and once it got down to 24 cause I went to school with one of the guys who made it that far. To be honest I thought Phillip Phillips was kind of bad. Not just in a subjective I-hate-Dave Matthews-way (totally agree about the Dave Matthews vibe), but objectively I just didn't really think he was that good. Not that I'm close to being a music critic in any way, shape, or form.
I really can't imagine ever watching the show again, but it was pretty funny creepy to see Steven Tyler hit on girls literally 1/4 his age.
Even if he doesn't win, he's definitely got what it takes. I hope he goes the soul route, but would still check out his music if he did gospel. I've sort of become indifferent to Philip; he seems to be a one-trick pony and his lack of vocal range is starting to hurt him, I believe.

I also haven't watched one second of this season. Caught a little bit of the previous season when I could stomach it, but all previous seasons I watched pretty much all of. Judges are turrible.

In all seriousness he had a cpl great performances on there, "Levon" was pretty great. Nothing has really touched Clay's "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" in the 2nd season finale though.
