I recently came across some free music on itunes. Typically, I dont/havent spent much time in the itunes store (mostly buy vinyl), but recently that has changed. I came across a podcast (Ive never really bothered with podcasts either) called the KEXP "Song of the day" podcast and it is stacked with great tunes. The best part is that it is free!!!??? Im not sure if this is completely normal for podcasts to be free or if this is just a lucky find?
Anyways, I thought I would share the great/free tunes with you guys and see if anyone else has come across anything similar to this? If so, please share!

Dude, welcome to the coolest station on the planet! KEXP rocks! They not only have the Song of the Day podcast, but they also have: Music That Matters (weekly podcast by either John Richards - the most awesome DJ in the biz! - or their other top hosts, Cheryl Waters or Kevin Cole); Live Performances podcast...and more! KEXP is my #1 source for new music. Hell, that station is so awesome that I tune in DURING THEIR FUND RAISER because it's so fun! (You can't say that about most public radio stations!)
Other free podcasts that I swear by for consistent indie awesomeness:
KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic (video) KCRW's Today's Top Tune Minnesota Public Radio - The Current Song of the Day NPR's All Songs Considered NPR's Live Concerts from All Songs Considered NPR: Tiny Desk Concerts (audio-only AND video formats!) NPR Music Interviews
In a different but similar vein, I HIGHLY recommend downloading the NPR Music app for your iPhone. They've always got albums for streaming way early, and they've got a sick archive of live concerts on there. I listen to it often and with great relish at work.
Is there anyway to make these tunes from the podcast show up as individual songs in my "music" library? Or do they just stay in the podcast section?
You'd be able to but it requires a bit of work I think. You'd have to edit the original mp3 file and save the songs individually, then you'd probably be able to put it in your music library on itunes.
