Flaming Lips are playing a free show in toronto the week after bonnaroo. Im psyched to go because everything ive heard by them is awesome but I dont really listen to them. Im sure a lot of people on the boards are big fans anyone have any suggestions on what albums/shows I should listen to?

If you're prepping for the show, you can ignore everything before The Soft Bulletin (except "She Don't Use Jelly"). Start with The Soft Bulletin, then Yoshimi, then Embryonic.

In a Priest Driven Ambulance (1990) Hit to Death in the Future Head (1992) Transmissions from the Satellite Heart (1993) Clouds Taste Metallic (1995) Zaireeka (1997) The Soft Bulletin (1999) Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (2002)
Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi are masterpieces. Embryonic and At War With the Mystics are good albums they'll probably play from as well. If you want to prep for what you're going to hear at the show, they've got a pretty decent "greatest hits" cd. The songs aren't as good out of context but they're still The Flaming Lips and thus very very VERY good.
