So we started off with 11 of us going and it is now down to 6. So we changed our minds and decided to go tent only instead of an RV plus tents around it, which we did last year. I hold 2 GA tix and 2 GA with RV pass tix. To save a dime on the RV rental, tent only is the way to go for us but I'm driving a GMC Denali which can seat all 6 of us but little in terms of camping gear. Also, we are taking 3 tents. Can we get into GA tent only if we pull a rental trailer in, like a 6 or 8 foot covered job ? Also, if we have to pack most things on top, can we still setup 3 tents or is there some sort of space limitation ? If we HAVE to pull a trailer and have a space limitation, then I will keep the 2 tix with RV pass and sell my 2 GA tix (or vice versa, depending). I really don't want to go with the second option because of the generator noise and fumes in the RV area. That was annoying enough last year even in an RV. Any knowledge, advice or help will be appreciated !

If you have a trailer, you will need an RV pass for it. The Official Rep on info.bonnaroo.com has also stated that they are only allowing RV/camping-type trailers this year. No utility trailers. This has also been posted on the FAQs on the site as well. www.bonnaroo.com/festival-info/entry-2/
As far as the rest, the space limitation in TO is how much space you can get without being a jerk about it. Also, you park your car then move your stuff to Tent Only. I don't believe there is a real way to drop all your stuff off next to Tent Only without pissing a lot of people off.

Hmmmm............maybe I mistakenly referred to the park and setup tent GA area as "tent only". In previous years you have always been able to park your car by your tent. So rephrasing my question, how many tents can we setup where we park ?
If you're trying to camp by your car, you most likely won't have room for 3 tents. You'll have a ~10x10 area, more if you jump out fast and grab some extra room. Tent Only may be a better option.

I would go for a hitch luggage rack and a rooftop rack and cram all your stuff there... Then walk to tent only with it. That sounds like a better option than having to cram into a 10x10 area or sleeping next to rvs. You might be able to park in the rv section w/ a trailer and walk to TO...
6 people in a single camping spot is a lot. I'd go with tent only and figure out a way to get all your stuff there without a trailer. Luggage rack does sound like a good idea for your situation.
EDIT: I had friends camp in TO before and they used red wagons to carry their stuff from where they parked the car to TO. Made things a lot easier for them.
OK, every time people talk about TO, I have a question pop into my head. How do you keep wooks from stealing everything you own? I think it sounds great, until I think to myself, "How do I keep a wook from stealing my 2 cases of craft beer?" What's the secret? Or is there no secret? You guys just leave yourself at the mercy of the wooks? I'd love to know

We always attach our coolers to the leg of the EZ up with a bike lock (easily found at a Dollar Store). That has always deterred thieves. Case and point: one of my campmates has always had her cooler stolen in TO because she doesn't attach it to anything.
Also I don't bring anything to Bonnaroo that I couldn't stand to part with.
*sigh* Thanks for the info JHO, but I will be bringing all sorts of stuff I don't want to part with, so I don't think TO is for me sadly. Just depresses me every time I think about how once there's a crowd big enough, there's always some awful self-centered shady person who steals. God help anyone I catch stealing from others.

Not trying to pry or to be rude, but what do you plan on bringing that is so valuable?
For me Bonnaroo is not a place where I bring nice stuff. Between the heat, possible rain, mud, dust and other activities, your valuables don't stand much of a chance.
And for the record, things get stolen in the car camping areas, too.
anytime you have 80k people together there are a couple of bad apples. my group has had random stuff taken over 5 roo's, a backpack that was left out over night, a flashlight and some liquor. the common thread, someone forgot to put away the items in the car. you roll the dice, 99% of the time nothing gets taken.
on a side note i had an entire cooler taken at a phish festival years back, it was the first night. had to eat phatty veggie burritos all weekend. i thought i might blow out my innards by the end of the festival. point of the story, it can happen anywhere.
don't bring expensive stuff and make sure you lock it up, never heard of a car being broken into or a bike lock broken either.

There is a way to lock stuff up at your campsite.... action packer with a lock on it that everyone in camp has the combo to (not the twirl kind, just a set of 4 or 5 numbers). Stake the action packer down with a corkscrew anchor attached to other stuff like ez-ups. They sell action packers with wheels for around $50. They are a great investment.
