I know there are a few posters on here who live close to Manchester...have you been able to see any activity from the Interstate of AC preparing for Bonnaroo?

I would think that they would already be starting some sort of cleaning up. Don't livestock stay on the farm when Roo isn't going on? I would imagine somethings have to be taken care of early. Like what are all of the permanent structures? I know the What Stage is permanent; what about the water points, the mushroom fountain, the Tents and the Arch? If the water points are permanent, they'd have to go around and make sure all of them are still functional and same with the mushroom. They only have 45 more days left. Somethings got to be going on.
I drove down Bushy Branch Rd. a couple weeks ago. It looks like the arch has been painted. I have never seen livestock there. When the right property on that road comes up for sale, I'm going to buy it. I'm not kidding either.
It was painted blue and white. Not as fancy as last year. A guy at work has a sister that lives on Bushy Branch Rd. right past the entrance/exit. It's blocked off during Bonnaroo so you can't see it. When you walk outside, the first thing you see is the arch. If it is ever for sale, it's MINE!!!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
Does the sister go to Roo and appreciate it's awesomeness or just hate the fact that one weekend a year she is unable to leave the area because of traffic and wookies blocking the road?

They go to Roo. They get free tickets. They are never going to sell that place. Neither is anybody else that lives by the Bonnaroo property. They know exactlly what they are sitting on. I bet most of those places have been in the family for a while.
I have been down those streets. The houses are very nice but right next to each other. I just thought it would be cool to be right there across from the farm. It's just a dream though. We will be relocating to somewhere in Manchester in the next few years, for sure. I should feel lucky to just be 45 minutes away. I wanted to take some pictures of the farm when I was out there but my memory card was screwing up.

Nothing has been done on the farm yet in terms of setting up the fest. The arch has not been painted. It is sitting exactly like it was after cleanup last year. They took some decorations off the arch (Obviously Dr John's hat didnt stay up there all year) and all of the "bling" was removable.
As I said, as of this morning, they have done nothing, period, end of story!
The first sign that set up is starting is the mowing of all the fields. It takes them about a week to mow the whole farm and as soon as they are done, the set up begins.
I will let y'all know (and take pics) when it all starts.
FWIW: No, there is no livestock on the farm throughout the year. That stopped when AC/Superfly bought the farm.
it makes me ill seeing how inexpensive the homes are in some areas of the country. in Boston a 150k could buy you a parking spot in Bay Back.
You don't even have to go far, drive an hour east west of Boston and you can get a 3 bed nice place for 150k. The price disparities in New England are obscene to say the least.

What RooFan said! I drove by yesterday, and the arch is exactly the same as last year minus the hat. We did see a red combine-thingy moving along near the road that passes the cuckcoo clock/watch tower, but it didnt look like it was doing anything but moving.

Do any of the locals rent their houses out over Roo? Years ago we had some friends rent out their house around the Olympics and they made a mint!
i have a buddy that lives right on the outskirts of the bethpage state golf course, where they had the masters a few years ago.. and he said they rented out houses to the pro's and made TONS. also, someone they know in the neighborhood rented their house to Tiger Woods, who had a giant jacuzzi installed in their house which they were allowed to keep free of charge.

I hope they bleached the bejesus out of that thing before they used it.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Cool man. I would definitely want to see how they go about preparing for 80,000 people over the next month an a half. Thanks for clearing up the livestock thing. That's what everyone always tells me about the farm during the rest of the year, so now I know!

So does the farm have any uses besides special events? I feel like they're missing an opportunity to sell bourbon made with non-GMO corn from manchester or something, but I don't know anything about marketing.
I read this thread right before falling asleep last night. I had a dream I drove down to the farm to check it out and they were setting up Roo around all of the livestock that is no longer there. It was nuts.
Did they add any new permanent structures this off season, last one I read about was the main stage construction. Maybe they will add a filter to the mushroom fountain - the anti-wook 5000 ultimate extreme maximum filter....
