TN state law is weird: you can bring as much liquor as you want, but it has to be in plastic mini bottles. No pints fifths etc.
Where do you guys come up with this stuff? I love in Middle Tennessee and plastic fifths are sold at every liquor store. There are potentially 3 reasons liquor isn't sold at Bonnaroo but the size of the bottle isn't one of them. 1. Temp liquor license (per vendor) is too expensive for a 4 day event. 2. The county Manchester is in doesn't allow the sale of liquor/wine (or beer over 6%). 3. The adverse risk of having higher alcohol consumption in the middle of Tennessee summer heat would just pile on liability to AC/Superfly.

It has to be the cost, plus liquor licenses are state-issued, where beer licenses are issued locally at the county level. I live a county which borders Manchester, and Coffee County (Manchester) is not dry at all. They are allowed to sell liquor by the drink, so I'm sure AC doesn't want to go through the hassle of applying for a liquor license for a 4-day fest. I was a bar manager at a local bar, and I know the process is pretty thorough to obtain a license. They tried a few years ago (the first year the "Sidebar" was open in the campgrounds), but something fell through along the way...
I'd bet that some of the beer sold in the Brooers Tent is over 6%.
Wanna bet a sub 6% beer on it?
I'm trying to remember what I drank at the Brooers tent last year... I want to say I got an IPA or something but the only beers I vividly remember getting were probably around 6%.
I am positive that the no alcohol rule has to do with state law, so don't get your hopes up.
Is this true?? No liquor at Roo???
It is true they do not sell liquor or wine inside Centeroo You can bring your own into the camping areas in plastic though. I usually manage to get some wine or liquor into Centeroo though
For reference so people will stop guessing in the dark -- Tennessee regulates liquor and beer consumption on a county by county basis, allowing counties to opt out of sales if they so choose. The state also gives a basic structure to sales in general regarding what may be lawfully sold and what may not.

Last year while waiting in line for Centeroo I noticed the guy behind me was holding a whole fifth of vodka. Someone in my group asked him why he was so brazen about carrying it in. His response, "Oh no, it's all good. The rule is because the don't sell liquor in there you are allowed to bring your own with you." We tried to warn him to hide it somehow but he wasn't having it.
As I walked through the security check I heard the bag check guy say, "Dude, you literally can't bring that in here."
2. The county Manchester is in doesn't allow the sale of liquor/wine (or beer over 6%).
There's a winery on Bushy Branch Road, isn't there? Plus the Jack Daniels distillery is right there.
The JD distillery is in Moore County. You can't buy alcohol at the distillery. Manchester is in Coffee County.
Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 57, Chapter 5. A Beer is defined as, ale or other malt beverages having an alcoholic content of not more than five percent (5%) by weight, except wine as defined in T.C.A.

Yeah that one was a guess...It was 3 am and I couldn't sleep. haha As for the jack distillery...it's in a dry county and you can't drink there. WTFIKNOWRIGHT?
Look, I don't want to say you guys are wrong but... You guys are wrong. I've bought liquor in Manchester before.
Liquor by the drink and liquor by the bottle are 2 different animals, my friend. Sure you can buy liquor in a bottle at the liquor store and take it in with you, but Bonnaroo does not sell liquor by the drink anywhere, campgrounds or centeroo...There are plenty of bars and restaurants where you can get liquor drinks too, just not in Bonnaroo...

Ah, you're right, I read the above comments wrong. I thought people were saying there was nothing but beer (and wine by exception) sold in Coffee county.

Sure you can, they sell souvenir bottles there, and offer (small) tastings. Moore county isn't dry, they sell beer in Lynchburg

You're right! Used to not be able to sample. But now, thanks to legislation, "You get three samples, just a sip," said Steve May.
Could this be that church structure thing out in pod one? Or maybe one of those special pod centers where they have something other than information to offer like food and drinks or yoga or whatever?
