I dont think this is the part everyone is having trouble with Phoenix headlining, its the flip side where yes they are bigger then that tent opening for crystal castles but are they radiohead/dre snoop/tool/prince big?
No, but they're on the same level as Jack Johnson, Arcade Fire, the Black Keys, Kings of Leon, etc. I'd argue they're actually a way better band than those four save Arcade Fire.
If anyone seriously thinks Phoenix is a worse band than KoL, Keys, or JJ, I don't know what to say. I am beyond confident they will put on amazing show.
Can anyone help me with Dinosaur Jr. I really like the songs I know, but I only know a fraction of their catalog.
I got into them late, but I always loved the album Where You Been. The first few songs are so freaking amazing. Without a Sound is also a strong album. It's got the song that's likely their most popular, I Feel the Pain. Bug, for many people, is a classic album.

By the way, if The Stone Roses don't announce any more U.S. dates soon, I'm going to be in here bothering people about how to fly into Coachella. They are a must see for me. I never thought I'd get a chance to see them after the break up. If this is it, I'm going to lay down the cash to make it happen.
Definitely seems like people in general are much more excited about Blur than The Stone Roses. Again, I am surprised by this. I honestly just always assumed the self-titled debut was one of those cult classic records that every true music fan has heard and unanimously agrees on its status as a canonical record, like Daydream Nation or Loveless or something.
I think the biggest difference is that Blur is just so goddam deep. Like the thing I look for in a headliner is at least a somewhat deep catalogue. So for Blur, we know they'll pull from like six records and it'll be a greatest hits show. For Stone Roses, as much I love the first album, its not nearly as big of a history. Like they have ARGUABLY six great songs. The new stuff might be cool but its just not something that is gonna be worth the headlining set length.
Phoenix on the other hand is perfect for this bump. They have roughly ten great songs from before Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. That album plus their new stuff is gonna make it a hell of a set.

Solid point Jackson, but The Stone Roses' first album > any Blur album. IMO.
Anyway, I think the Roses will probably only get 50 minutes to an hour while Blur will get the full hour-and-a-half headlining set length because, like you said, Blur simply has more sh*t to play. Hopefully the Roses fill that time with stuff from their debut and not new songs or too much stuff from Second Coming.
Speaking of that, it's pretty insane that acts that are 2nd or 3rd on the Coach lineup routinely get 50-minute sets. That is not nearly long enough. For any of you who've been, does that take away from the shows much?

This is actually a big reason I stayed away from Coachella as long as I did. And surprisingly, it doesn't detract from the shows at all in my experience. If anything there is less filler and the shows are more intense more quickly.
It's also hard to be upset about a short set when you have at least a dozen others you're looking forward to in one day.

Agreed with this description. Another perfect example of how Roo and Coachella are different, but both formats have their perks.
Coachella I just end up running around seeing act after act, Roo is a little more paced out and chill, but I get to full sets by acts I love. It's a toss up, both are great.

I don't know, I couldn't get into the shorter sets. I guess it's cool if you're only going to check out a little bit of everything, but I prefer Roo's longer and much more immersive sets.
The amount of people on Facebook and Twitter who claim they are selling their tickets because there's no Skrillex, Deadmau5, etc. only proves to me that GV knew what they were doing.
Also, the tickets left for purchase are either GA + Shuttle passes or GA + Camping. Estimates are that there's MAYBE 24K tickets left total. They sold between 130K-140K in the presale. That's just insane.
I have been very curious on what the after-market is going to look like this year. I was estimating that prices would be lower because scalpers probably over-estimated the demand with the presale. Without the big headliner draws, I figured there would have been a surplus in the after market.
There are currently about 2,200 tickets listed for sale on stubhub. That's only 1.6% 1.7% of the presale allotment if your estimations are correct. I think I was wrong.
I went to check out the stubhub prices, and found this gem
2013 Coachella Music Festival Pass Tickets - WEEKEND 1 with The Stone Sour Roses, Phoenix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Modest Mouse, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Lou Reed, Jurrassic 5, Wu Tang Clan, the xx, Sigur Ros, Grizzly Bear, Bad Seeds and more (April 12 - 14)

I'm still really bummed about RHCP. I wasn't totally amped for the Stones, but it still would have been my only chance to see them. It would be nice to finish the fest with a show all the people I'm traveling with will enjoy. Unfortunately I don't see them turning into huge Nick Cave fans between now and April, and unless Prydz leapfrogs Pretty Lights on the schedule, I don't see a closer that I'm really excited about.
