Me and a group of three other friends are making the drive from Southern California and were wondering who else has made the trip on the road from here? Any suggestions on were to make stops or how long it takes? Google maps is telling us its a 32 hour drive from Orange County to Manchester, TN of course that's driving straight through and were not sure yet if we want to do that. Also if anyone is interested in forming some kind of caravan let us know. This will be our first Bonnaroo.

Hey bro I made the trek out from LA in 2010. We had a blast. On the way there we left on the Sunday before, took I-40 and stopped for the night in albuquerque, oklahoma city, and memphis. Then we lolligagged in TN wednesday afternoon and got into the festival wed night.
After that, we wanted a different route back so we opted to take I-70 for a change of scenery. it only added about six hours to the drive, but we gotta to see much more beautiful serene scenery. our stops on the way back were kansas city (missouri), denver, and we ended the trip in las vegas. if i had the money and time, id totally do it again in a heartbeat.
advice from experiece: - ratchet straps and luggage rack = lifesaver - clean out your ipod of crap and pack it in with as many songs as humanly possible. i have 16 gigs full and we were bored by day 2. id be so inclined to invest in satellite radio even. - cigarettes are cheapest in missouri. - if theres anything on top of ur car, be able to cover it in case of rain. - there is bomb food outside our little LA bubble don't be afraid to go nuts at BBQs along the way. - arkansas is a poop hole. - take turns driving and be prepared for alot of car time - make sure your group is chill and has a good dynamic and everyones on the same page because you will be together for a great big number of consecutive hours/days together so its important not to clash on trip decisions or get in stupid trivial fights.
