I'm having a hell of a time with this one... I've been on the hunt for a battery-operated portable flat iron for the longest time. I just want it to straighten my bangs when they get damp out on the farm because they curl up tight and get coarse, pokey and itchy.
I've seen plenty that work on car chargers (will be in tent-only) and butane packs but none on batteries... am I chasing a pipe dream? Do these things even exist? It would make my life on the farm to be able to touch up my bangs every once in awhile!
I took a trip to Europe a few weeks before roo last year. I ended up buying one on eBay thinking I could use it for both. It turned out to be a bad ass little straightener, but the rechargeable batteries quit working on me after a short while, but they definitely exist.

From Anabelle: "Just ordered my SS Dash mini (7 in) 12v flat iron for Roo off Amazon. It heats up to 400 deg and was only $14. I have a mini flat iron with very similar specs that I have used on occasion. The small size isn't great, but it will be an awesome tool to have camping there. I hope it works as well as I think it will. I will let you know if I am happy with it."

Thanks guys! Mayo, it looks like the SS Dash uses a car charger -- dang because it's just the right price!
Greenpeas, would you mind telling me the full name of the straightener you got? Daytripper's look great, but one is sold out and one is 70$ and one is $140. Even the 70$ one has some pretty questionable reviews... I'm starting to wonder if this kind of thing even actually exists!
I want to say it was an ionfx that I got for about 30 bucks on eBay. You could use it plugged in with the ac adapter or with the rechargeable battery power and it came with a nice bag. I'll have to pull it out when I get home from work and double check that brand name. I feel your pain though, I had a heck of a time finding one last year. I couldn't see dropping a ton of cash on something I would only use a few times.

Awe burberry, it's not so much about fixing the hair. I didn't even brush the bulk of my hair at all last year, but those bangs do curl up with the quickness and poke ya in the eyeballs.
Hi;) I'm a hairstylist that's currently rocking a heavy bang (zooey deschanel style) and I have naturally curly hair. I was planning on spritzing them with water and rolling them on the largest size velcro roller that they will hold in hopes of smoothing them out. I think they will dry relatively fast in the heat as long as they don't start out too wet. I have not tested my theory out yet, fair warning. I've also been very concerned for my bangs at bonnaroo--mine curl outwardly in opposite directions, dr. seuss style, eek! Good luck!_
