It is at my favorite venue for a fest, Spirit Of the Suwannee Music Park (SOSMP).
Purple Hatters Ball
It is a smaller fest, which is blossoming from a sad story and making awareness of a great cause.
Rachel Morningstar Hoffman was a 23 year old recent grad of Florida State University, when her life was taken early. It happened in a blotched deal, while under the supervision of the Tallahassee Police department and from this Florida informant laws were rewritten and "Rachel's Law" was born. Morningstar was known for wearing a Purple Hat. This is her Ball.

Lono this is a very sad story. but this weekend is about celebration! ;D and I started that today as I crashed the Party Shop and took all their purple decorations. Short Cut Camp presents: The Morning Star trail.
Wow! What a weekend. Very magical in many different ways.
Here are some videos of the Morningstar Trail.

Nighttime
Yes, I know the lighting sucks, but there is some happy dancing, some jokes by me, and people trying to light a fake candle. A big thank you to the ones who voices you here in the video.

I wish I lived much closer, so I could go to this. I really like the fact they are doing it in memory of that young lady. Just thinking about her tragic story makes me angry.
klim, this was the smallest fest I have been to, by the end of the week you have said hello to almost everyone there. The crowd was also a lot younger than me, but that did not matter, I let those young kids teach me a thing or two. This is a awesome fest! I had a great time! Cindy, you would have loved the trail. One thing that you can not see, is the "Fire fly orgy" in the trees. Just look up! You have seen them, so I think you know what I am talking about. Well you will at Bear Creek you will and you will see a lot more. Each trail gets better than the one before and I have big plans for Bear Creek. ;D Sugar, there was a lot of mischievous laughter those two nights. Like the time I told a group, they should be thankful I am not a cheap ass and how lucky they are that I was willing to spend that extra nickel and get the sticks with the glow. They could have just gotten plastic sticks, but I was thinking of them and splurged and got sticks that glow, rather than try to save a penny and get the non glow sticks.
Updated the original post. This is a small fest with an amazing vibe. Highly recommended. Good times for sure! I am loving this line up.

Already got tickets for myself and 2 other friends. Lineup is outstanding this year. Esp for the price. $65/ticket TOTAL until midnight tonight! I got 3 tickets for $195. That's $15 more than it would cost for 3 people to CAMP at SoSMP!!!
I used to do Hangout the following weekend for my birthday, but it's gotten expensive and who knows what to expect with a new booking company. This year I finally get to go to PHB! Looking forward to it!

Hi hi! I'm coming with about 4 other friends from Knoxville. One used to live in Flordia and he's been to, and loves SOTSMP. He's bringing his lady friend and then a couple I went to Waka with are going as well. Can't wait to get back to this magical place and party!
^Funk yeah! I like to hear this D. PHB will be a smaller crowd than BC, but it holds all the magic and then some. I love this fest!
That is exactly what I need. I love the lineup, beats antique could have me make the drive alone but I'm really looking forward to just being there in that beautiful place with beautiful people.
Sorry, Scrog. I have a huge boner for the Shaky Knees line-up. They cheated and put The National as a headliner. I am aiming for Bear Creek though.
I saw this on Facebook and I was butt hurt, for about 10 , then "squirrel!" And I lost my train of thought. But if The national does it for you, understandable, but one day you will experience the SOSMP.

They made some additions! Namely The Motet and the Floozies!
Heads up, Hatters! Purple Hatter’s Ball has added several new artists to the line-up including: Colorado’s dance-funk seven-piece The Motet; electronic producer/guitar player and drummer duo, The Floozies, who are performing at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park for their first time; the infectious soul-funk of The Fritz; and the inspiring soulful sounds of Avis Berry & Scott Campbell Band, as well as Yankee Slickers, Famato and Universal Green.
Easily the best fest for the buck in the region. Really looking forward to another weekend at SoSMP!
