We bring a hammock and suspension poles every year and it is a life saver during the day. O even slept in it in 2010 and it was the best sleep I had at roo.

I have a portable hammock I use for camping. We brought it last year and set it up under our ezup. I ended up sleeping on it every night. It's definitely worth it, but they can be pricey. You won't find any trees to use though.
Is that portable hammock okay for taller dudes? I'm around 6'1" or 6'2" and would love to pick that up if it can comfortably fit me. the weight is no issue as I only way about 135 soaking wet

Yeah, not a lot of trees. You'll have to find some way to set it up, like the hammock stands previously stated. I napped in one every morning in 2010. Utter bliss.
I have not tried the hammock idea but it seems like it would be a God-send for midday lounging. Trying to sleep in the early morning sun is tough but the hammock should keep you a little bit cooler, plus you'll be living like a king!

i have a hammock for tree camping and hiking that requires tree huggers of some kind. www.eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com i have also seen these hung between two suvs for car camping.
for bonnaroo and other tree less festivals i use a camp cot and ez up. my cot also doubles as a lounge chair during the day. a few of my friends also use three way folding beach chairs with camp pads on them under the ez up... just a suggestion. i think they got the tri fold chairs at a cvs last year for under $20, if your not looking to make the camp cot/hammock investment
Last year my husband bought our free standing hammock. It was a pain in the butt to be honest. When he set it up it pretty much took up all of our sitting area in front of our tent and it was always in my way. Luckily it comes apart and goes together very easy so he just took it up and down. I told him to leave it at home this year but I think he's still bringing it.

Brought this last year. Heavy as crap but oh so comfy! We put it along the edge of our EZ Up and put the shade barrier to the side to block the sun. It will be returning this year.

there was something like this at my local costco. it was only around 60-70. i can't really tell from the picture but i think the costco one has a bigger shade.

How much and where did you get it?
Got it at K-Mart on clearance last year. I paid $40; normal price was $80. Mine is blue and the shade does look bigger than this one, but it's the only pic I could find of something comparable. It's almost time to bring it up from the basement!!
Got my hammock, it looked kind of iffy. But, it set up quick, and worked fine. been using it every day, no issues. I just searched for 'folding hammock' on ebay and bought the one for $38 plus shipping.
I'll be bringing my ENO DoubleNest this year, went ahead and bought a Vario hammock stand by Byer of Maine . It's a little more expensive them some of the other suggestions in this thread, but I plan on using it outside of 'roo too.
Haven't been to the farm since '09, but last year at Wakarusa, I saw several people hanging their hammocks from the poles supporting the tents similar to This/That/The Other Tent. No idea if 'roo has put the kibosh on this practice or not, but plan on trying it at least once when I get there. Otherwise it will reside back at the campsite for sleeping when the tent gets too hot.

i loved having a free standing hammock to lounge in under a shade tent in years past. unfortunately i couldn't bring it the past couple years due to space issues in the vehicle. it does take up a lot of room to haul and to have set up at camp, but if you've got the space it is definitely worth it.
