yeah i know. we get to hear some killer jams, but why do you hold bonnaroo so dear to your heart? (if you do)
bonnaroo is a chance for me to see acts i never would otherwise. i mean, i would NEVER pay to go see kanye west or metallica. but if there are no conflicts, hell yeah i will check them out. why not?
bonnaroo means summer vacation. and seeing some people i only get to see once or twice a year.
and mostly bonnaroo means not having to worry about a DAMN thing for 4 days except which band will i choose to see over another.

Bonnaroo, to me, is the most amazing musical environment I can place myself in at the dawn of the third millenium.
Routinely, I look up into the sky at Bonnaroo at night, out at the stars, and think to myself, "of all the places in the UNIVERSE to be tonight, there is NOWHERE else I'd rather be. There is NOWHERE else that THIS is happening."
Just as Phish did to me during the 90s, I feel like the festival has somehow merged with the fabric of my soul. I will never be the same because of it.

I totally feel that way also - it is the closest thing I have found to the peace and family vibe that I used to get at Grateful Dead and Phish shows.
During Bonnaroo, I put all my worries and stresses aside and just have a huge smile on my face the whole time. I am totally myself and totally at ease while I am there. I can be the aging hippie chick with pig-tails and a long flowy dress dancing her ass off and I know no-one will mind ;D
I love the diversity of the people, the music and the art, and just love watching other people have such a wonderful time.
And of course I love discovering great new bands every year, that I would otherwise have never listened to. My friends laugh at me because of my Roo obsession, but if they went they would totally understand. Sadly, none of them are open minded enough to want anything to do with it.......

Bonnaroo is the greatest event in the entire world. For four days, I can do as I please, go where I please, and be whomever I please. Knowing I can do anything, not necessarily doing anything I want, is so liberating.

I did that during Radiohead in '06, and the Lips last year. Knowing, really understanding, that I didn't want to be anywhere else in an entire universe of possibilities sent a warm comforting love through my whole body. Bonnaroo is freedom, it's an escape, it's everything you want a festival to be.

I've never scaled Mount Everest, won the Nobel Peace Prize, become the undisputed heavyweight champ, or had one of those tantric orgasms that lasts like an hour. But setting aside the births of my daughters and some special times with my wife (in case she sees this ), Bonnaroo is about as close as I get to pure joy. It combines my favorites activities and freedom and fun and great people in a way that makes it the thing I most look forward to each year.

Bonnaroo is the most indescribable feeling I have ever had. The second I stepped foot on the farm in 06 I knew I had found somthing special. I knew this was where I wanted to be every year in June for the rest of my life. There is something mystical about it. The smell in the air, the people, the music. Just being their knowing you are with 80,000 other people and somewhere along the line music affected them just like it did you.
I seriously love this thread so much. Bonnaroo is so great, it's almost undescribable (I think it might be). It's so hard to explain how I feel when I'm on that farm. hoosgotthebarss, it's where i want to be every june from now on too, and i bet it's like that for most everyone else here!!
Bonnaroo to me is a mental vacation, it's leaving worry at home, it's being force fed great new bands I would have never paid any attention to, it's meeting great new people, it's having an excuse to get all my camping crap out of the basement and put to use!

Bonnaroo is a chance to escape reality, relax and be yourself. It's a community of people that are there for the love of music, friendship and love. It's more important to me than Christmas. It's all about peace, love and harmony. That's what bonnaroo means to me.

Bonnaroo for me is one of the most important things to me... It has brought me closer to the people I love most, and it has helped me to realize why I love those people
I've written about this on here before but I love Bonnaroo and Disneyworld for the same reason. You are completely immersed and leave the outside world behind. You are with like minded people and everyone is so happy. Both are completely different but both very magical. To me they truly are the most magical places on earth.

Good Bump.
A chance for me to spend 4 days with a group of people who live, breathe, eat and sleep music. A chance for me to ditch the stresses of work and everyday life and bond with an army of music lovers who unite for 4 days of bliss.
The biggest draw for me is the vibe I get while on the farm. I do not don the horns and clock anywhere else except for the farm. (although a few friends of mine have asked me to for various reasosns). I only unite with The Pondo Army for 4 days in June. Makes it seem even more special to me.

Don't know how I missed this thread first time around! Bonnaroo means the world to me. It's my yearly vacation to myself and my friends and family know not to expect me to be available come mid June. The new folks I meet every year are great, and gettin' to see my inforoo family is always fantastic! The Farm is just the most wonderful place on the Earth! Can't wait fer another year!
