For those of you who don't know, Donald "Duck" Dunn died today.
As a bassist the guy was one of my idols and pretty much the way I learned how to play.
Booker T & the MGs, whether backing soul icons like Otis Redding, or just doing their thing, were one of the tightest bands around, and "Duck" was a huge part of that sound. He will be deeply missed.
Amen to that sentiment! I love the Duck and have always considered him one of the best bass players in Rock history. Everyone should do themselves a favor this week and check out Otis Redding Live in Europe. It is one of many examples of Duck at his best!
