and a few others
This is in Chicago, there's one in Philadelphia too but not too many artists are listed for it yet but I assume it'll be similar.
3 day passes right now are only $90 two day is $36.
This was a wonderful surprise on a otherwise perfectly ordinary Tuesday morning. I snagged a 2-day at the cheap price. 90% sure I'll use it; just got to hope they don't screw me by putting the acts I want to see on Friday. Also, The Jesus & Mary Chain is one of the "few others" that I felt was worth emphasizing and also a band I never thought I'd get a chance to see live.

Anyone know what the 2-day passes will allow you to see as opposed to the 3-days? I mean like besides obviously one less day of music. It says 2-days allow entry to Humboldt Park but I'm wondering how many/which shows. I assume not all of Elvis Costello, Jesus and Mary Chain and Built to Spill, because that would be too good.

Did you find anything out? I think I have to hit it up this year. What a lineup!

I figured it just had to do with these groups not fitting their core festival demographic but I must have been blinded by that possibility because I now see on the poster that it's not all been moved to one central location, and that the Congress Theater is also part of it. I'll bet anything that's where the top billed shows will be held and for a different ticket no less. Damnitallsomuch!

You're probably right. Also, you apparently need to have a 3-day pass to be able to purchase an opening night ticket to the Congress? At least that what it says now, I don't know if that will change in the future.

Anyone know who is playing what day yet? When do they announce that? I know it was in a different format last year, how did that work with knowing who was playing where and when?

VIP is only $155, and it says you get 10 beverage tickets per day. If that really means 10 alcoholic beverages per day, it's paying for itself as far as I'm concerned.
90% in for this. I can get there cheap from Nashville (where I'll likely be at the time), and I've got a free place to stay. Elvis Costello (never seen him), Stooges, Built to Spill, JAMC, Japanther, Screaming Females, Fishbone, Rev Horton Heat, and Gwar do it for me. There's a whole lotta shit there, but that's what the beverage tickets will be for.

Be warned that the bev tickets might be 1 ticket = $1, which won't obviously go very far at a fest. It just seems they'd be inviting trouble to provide that much booze otherwise.

I emailed them about the beverage tickets, and they said one ticket is good for one drink. Since VIP is $105 more than GA, you're basically paying $5 per drink ticket, which isn't too bad considering beer prices have got to be at least that much inside the grounds. Access to the VIP viewing areas tips it over the top for me, because let's be real...this crowd is going to be Warped Tour'd out.

New lineup additions (Andrew W.K., Minus The Bear, Neon Trees, Hot Water Music, The Adicts, Pegboy, Dead Sara, Fireworks, Henry Clay People, Environmental Encroachment, The Infected)
...along with a day by day breakdown of bands (http://lineup-chicago.riotfest.org/?sort=day) makes me very happy since none of the performers I want to see are scheduled for Friday and I have the two day pass.

I really wish that the Saturday and Sunday lineups were switched. I'd be all over Sunday for $34.50 if that wasn't the night David Bryne/St. Vincent are in Milwaukee.
This might be one of the only times I feel comfortable stepping foot in Humboldt Park...
Although it's still kind of rough out there, it has gotten much much better. However that still didn't stop my friend from almost getting mugged a couple months ago.
