So me and my buddies are making the drive down from Boston, and I'm trying to put together the ultimate playlist. I'm definitely going heavy with Bonnaroo artists, but am obviously going to use other bands. The playlist is starting off with Roadtripping by the RHCP, but i need help for the rest. It's a 19 hour drive... List away my fellow Rooers!!

Definitely featuring some Roo acts past and present. I have a rule, though. The FIRST two songs on any road trip mix I make have to be, in order, Bob Seger's Turn The Page and Whitesnake's Here I Go Again.
Another trick I've picked up over the years of road-tripping is movies. The actual movies are fine if you're travelling with others, give them something to watch, but in my solo trips, I've got software that will extract the audio track from any DVD you have for conversion to WAV, MP3, Vorbis, whatever you use. Tommy Boy has been a staple for years.
Aside from that... something about Tom Petty is extremely suitable as driving music.
One of my personal road trip rules is to never listen to an artist that you are going to see. It arose from a series of road trip mishaps on the way to shows and festivals in the early nineties.
Some of my favorite songs for the trip to Bonnaroo:
My Morning Jacket - One Big Holiday Golden Earring - Radar Love Jerry Reed - Eastbound and Down Ani DiFranco - God's Country Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run Public Enemy w/Anthrax - Bring Tha Noise
That's good to know about Spotify, last yr we made about a 13 hr drive to see U2/Arcade Fire, and definitely did not leave prepared with a playlist. I'm gonna check out spotify now.
