I did this in '06 and '07. Both times I flew in the night before and took the first bus in the morning. I think I got there about an hour before and had no problem getting on as they had several buses at that time. Not sure how long the wait is during the day. The ride takes about 1.5 hours. So if your flight arrives at 2, expect to be there maybe between 4 and 5?
My buddy had an awful experience last year... The shuttle waited in line at one entrance... Was then routed to a second entrance where he waited some more... Only to be routed to a third entrance with a third wait. Not sure on his total travel time but it was definitely longer than 1.5 hours.
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
Last year, our bus took us inside the festival, stopped randomly in the north west area and started off loading luggage and told us " your here". And that was it. There was a mob of bewildered people with inactivated bracelets walking around for a good 30 mind before we realized we need to get to a tollbooth. If was kinda fun and met some decent folks in the process... Think from the time the bus left the airport to getting off the bus at roo, it might have been 1.5 hours. And this was around 5 on Thursday I will be on the 2nd bus at 930 this year
Yeah, could have easily set up camp, then went to activate, but we decided it would look strange to show up at the booth from inside, with nothing but the shirts on our backs. They kinda glanced into our backpacks, but nothing major.
I've been asking around about shuttle times the last couple of days on other threads since this will be the first year I fly in instead of drive and Madeline helpfully clued me into this..
Also, this informed me that I needed to pre-buy my shuttle pass. Anyone know if you have to or can you buy them at the airport? I purchased mine last night, but musictoday hasn't sent me a e-mail confirmation yet.
fyi, i e-mailed Roo about returning flights, and their advice was to not depend on the shuttle to get you back to the airport Monday if your flight leaves before 9am.
I had a flight at 1130am our first year and JUST made our flight, I think we were on the 2nd shuttle Monday morning, so yeah. I wouldn't book any flight earlier than 1130am, just to be on the safe side
I can't remember what time the first shuttles leave, but I think it's around 7. Traffic will make or break it. I'm not saying its impossible, but prepare for the worst.
it says 6 am they have a shuttle out. i bought trip insurance through travelocity, i have to call them and see if that will guarantee me a seat on a later plane if i miss my flight.
Do they sell shuttle passes at the airport? or do you have to pre buy them?
They do sell shuttle passes at the airport. I think there is a bit of a prince increase though, maybe $10. You can also purchase a 1 way shuttle pass at the airport. It is a bit more than 1/2 the cost of a roundtrip pass, but worth it if you don't need the shuttle back.

Friday and Monday still say 2012, so I'm not sure if the times will be different or if they just forgot to change the dates.

I took the shuttle last year and highly recommend it. (purchased a one way ticket when I arrived at the airport because I only needed one way, and they didn't sell those online.) I only waited maybe 45 minutes at the airport. It moved pretty fast. Our bus dropped us off right at some kind of gate/checkpoint for people who were walking in. They activated our wristbands right there, and then we just had to find our campsites. DON'T bring a rolling suitcase or anything you can't carry on your body, obviously, as you might walk a good bit just to get to your camp. Barely any traffic issues at all... I think my flight was in around 1pm, and I was on the grounds and ready to head up to Centeroo in time to see EMA (one of the very first acts).
