Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Bonnaroo is known for its arts and music, but their comedy and cinema tents are very popular as well. These are enclosed, air conditioned areas that allow about 600 capacity (potentially only 16% of Rooers would be able to attend these shows).
In 2011 during the times I had thought I needed to be in line to get into these shows these lines turned out to be pointless.
Hundreds of people standing in the heat to find out COMEDY SHOWS' tickets were unavailable, and had been since the beginning of the Fest. I went around the community hanging in lines and they told me the people who got into the shows and even spoke with an official-looking worker that told me there are TICKETS that need to be obtained when first arriving at Bonnaroo.
For many others this is some roadtrip or fest, but this also is my BIRTHDAY. Bonnaroo always falls on my birthday so for years I have been celebrating here- I leave everyone behind and if they want to party they know where do find me. SO THIS YEAR I NEED TO SEE AZIZ!
Has anyone been to these comedy shows? Do you need a ticket? Did you get your ticket EARLY? if so- WHERE DO I GO TO GET IT?

ive only been to the comedy tent once out of my 3 years but we had to go sit in a line about 4 or 5 hours before the show and they give out laminated "tickets" then you have to go get in another line and wait to get in. so find when you wanna see him and be prepared to be out there hours earlier to get a ticket.
I was willing to wait an hour before a show to get a ticket but that did not work last year. Many people would walk up to the tent and ask for a ticket but would get turned away....followed by random people showing up with tickets to the next show making a line to the entrance. It wasn't cool to see all those people with tickets but Im sure they were williing to get there earlier than me.

A lot of that is not TROO
Here's an old post of mine:
You can pick up a ticket for the show you want to see before it's supposed to start. The ticket guarantees you entry and lets you walk around and go see music without having to wait in line for an hour or two for a show. You can wait in line if you want to get a great seat but if you have a ticket you can just walk up when the show is supposed to start. Ask the people handing out tickets when is the best time to pick up a ticket.
Honestly, the best thing to do is ask the workers when to come back and get a ticket for a specific show. Get that ticket (for Aziz there may be a line waiting just to get tickets. He's that popular) and then return to the tent before his show. If you get an answer you don't like or you think is wrong from one worker, find another one. Look for the ones bossing others around
I know how to investigate and be my own advocate! I plan to get into centeroo when it opens to get tickets for the shows I want. From the countless DIFFERENT stories I've heard playing safe by getting in there ASAP might be the best bet. Crisis Averted (question mark)
Only show I've seen in Comedy tent last year was John Waters. I went to centeroo early in the afternoon, got in line and got a ticket pretty easy, then went back to the tent a few hours later when the show started and got in line to get in! Easy peasy. However I imagine the line to get an Aziz ticket will be on par with Conan in '10

You might want to reevaluate your investigation skills because virtually none of your info is correct. As itrainminkeys said, you have to get a ticket for the individual show you want. You can only get tickets for the next show that is playing in the comedy tent. You can't show up and ask for tickets to shows x, y, and z for the weekend, which it sounds like you're planning to do. The tickets for the whole weekend don't disappear at the beginning of the fest, so as long as you're in line early enough for each act you're good.
If Aziz is playing at four and six, they would start handing out tickets for his 4:00 PM show somewhere between two and three. If you lined up for that, you could not get a ticket for his 6:00 PM show from that line. They usually disburse tickets for each show 1-2 hours prior to the shows beginning. Talk to a worker AT THE COMEDY TENT earlier in the day to find out when they're handing out tickets for each show.
For many acts, the line for this ticket handout can start forming hours earlier. An hour or two before the disbursement walk by and see what the line looks like so you know whether to get in it yet or not. In 2010 I got in line for Conan more than three hours before his show began and my friend and I literally got two of the last four tickets for him. But yes, once you have a ticket, you're good for entry and can go wander around until a few minutes before showtime. All the seats are good in there, so don't worry about that. Good luck.

Thank you Gabfrab...great advice.
dpw - that sucks. I never had a problem in 2009 or 2011 (missed 2010). Like I said, try and find someone who gives you a definite answer. I also ask the person twice like I repeat their answer and say I just want to make totally sure.
There is also a standby option that I've used. A certain portion of the people that get tickets never make it back to the show. If you show up a bit before a "sold out" show there's a separate line off to the side and they'll fill in any vacancies from that line right before the show. Used it for Donald Glover last year and ended up with a good spot.
There's no guarantee that you'll get in that way, though.
You can also sometimes buy these free tickets off of less scrupulous people fer a nominal fee. Not that I am suggestin' or encouragin' it, but if you really wanna see Aziz it might be an option if you couldn't get a ticket earlier in the day.
Well like I said before, I asked tons of people in line as well as multiple workers, but found something better to do; 'Roo always has something going on!!
I like my plan so far and it works out with my schedule, tons of help thanks guys.
I worked the comedy tent two years ago so I may have some semi-official advice. I was a volunteer though and the best advice I can give you is don't ask a volunteer anything. They are as clueless as you most of the time. From what I saw in the 6 hours I was in there is that there is two sets of tickets. I think, I really can't remember. See why you shouldn't ask a volunteer anything? After they let a show in and collect the tickets they will hand them out for the show coming up. If you really want to go to a comedy show though. Just walk up a couple of minutes after the show starts like you own the place and you can go straight in. After the show starts the people actually running the tent do not man the entrances. It was just me and a pink guy shirt out there. I don't remember what the pink shirts were maybe they may have been safety. Safety is always yellow shirts but I think there are two different kinds. If I had to describe their job though it was somewhere in between citizen and cop. More like a mall cop. Dude just sat there for his shift and didn't do anything when it came to the actual operation of the comedy tent.

YES!! THAT IS SO TROO! I would never ask a volunteer anything at roo so good advice to pass on! I learned they are tired, overworked or annoyed and have no idea what is going on.
Last year I didn't bother with anyone who didn't look official (clean, clean shoes, a radio or earpiece). I'll probably only make it to the first or second bonnaroo comedy show on the first day, I've got tons of bands I need to see and last year I ended up just bumping into a few comedians out and about- Jeff Ross was hanging in the back during NAS/Damien Marley so it wasn't so bad I missed his show !!
Obviously it will be conjecture until Thursday afternoon but any advice as to when to line up for this.
Cinema Tent opens whenever Centeroo opens, and they don't clear it out after every movie, so it's up to you. If you got nothing else going on, show up earlier and enjoy the A/C. If you wanted to walk around Centeroo, just check by every once in a while to see if it is starting to get full. I'd say the 4pm show on Thursday shouldn't be too awful full since people are still coming in.
