This is going to be my second time at Roo, but the last time was in 2006 and we just had a small tent. This time, we're bringing a 10x10 shade canopy (similar to an EZ up) w/walls that we can roll down/up and attach w/bungee cords, instead of a tent (although we WILL have a tent in case something goes wrong). We're also bringing cots to sleep on that will fit in the tent if necessary.
I know that you get "10 ft x the width of your car", but do you think there will really be a problem setting up the canopy and using it as our tent AND our shade canopy?
We do have the tent so as our back up plan we'll offer to "share the shade" with neighbors in order to at least put the canopy up for just the shade, but it would be nice if we could use it w/o the tent.
Does anyone have any tips for us to make sure we get enough space? There are only two of us and we'll be in an intermediate SUV. Thank you in advance!!

This is my 7th time going and we never had a problem with space, but my advice is to: 1. When your parking, and the dude is trying to squeeze you, play dumb and stay wide, what ever you do stay wide, listen to them but not like its life or death, every inch you get the better. 2. Make sure your tent or EZ up is in a place you can grab it right away, and set that sh?t up asap, dont be hugging and jumping up and down, get to work. I like the EZ up right closest to the car, and then tent, set up that tent, also, cause we might be wet this roo. go thru a run through at home so you mastered this. I wouldn't worry, you should be able to set up both. 3. Now you are so sweaty and exhausted, grab a beer, sit down, say hi to your naaaaaybors and watch them setup.

BFE I think its called which I guess is the super far back corner everyone talks about how it's a 50 minute treck if you're a slow walker... Well I also read that you can carry all your junk up to the Camp-only sections where they allow tents only camp up there. I was wondering if this would be a better option than being crammed next to my car and all the way in the back than to leave my car by itself and possibly get vandalized... I don't know what the better option is.. I know I'll prolly be jammed in the back for arriving super early.
I can't stress how important it is to setup your tent/ez up in your backyard. That way you know you have all the parts, it's easier to fix when you have access to stores. Also it allows you to setup fast, claim your land then laugh at the newbies who are clueless...then help them out....

The most likely vandalization that will occur to your car is someone writing BONNAROO or a huge penis on your windshield. Just lock it up, and put all the important stuff in your glove box or something. On another note, actual BFE is not that bad (it's where I am actually planning on ending up this year). There's your own entrance to use after Thursday, a lot of people go to Tent Only so you have more space, your walk is only about 30 min at the most and you are a whole lot closer than if you were in Super BFE. Super BFE is a straight up PITA, the walk alone is closer to an hour. If you look at the map of Roo, Super BFE is the Family Guy and Austin Powers Camps (correct me if I'm wrong here guys) around POD 11 in your upper right hand corner, waaaaaay out there. Regular BFE is in the lower right hand corner, it's all the 007 camps, not sure what POD.
YES, swing wide when you are finally parked. My car is 5.5 feet wide and I have a 10 x 10 ez-up. Just try and make sure you and the folks next to you each have enough space to pop some shelter.
And yes, the far North East corner of the farm is Super BFE and a PITA. If you end up there, be ready to either spend all day in Centeroo or fork over $ for a few golf-cart cab rides to and fro so you don't miss your favorite band.
Hey, I was wondering if we would have enough froom for an ezup, and a 2 person tent (not under the ezup but directly next to it). We have 4 people coming in one car, so I am kinda worrying that we wont have enough space. I especially dont want to start on bad terms with our neighbors by being known as the space-hoggers.
It's all chance. Check out some aerial photos from years past for an idea of the space for each camp. Some camps are tightly packed and organized, while others are more loosely packed in.
From my experiences you would have had enough space.
Just be nice, speak with your neighbors and more than likely everything will work out.

We had a 10x10 canopy and 5 person tent and still had plenty of space around our camp, we also hopped out and rolled out both as soon as we parked. I noticed in the row behind us that the guys who got out and lolly gagged around were complaining about not having enough space on either side of them, those guys were also whiny bros though.

last year we parked, and by the time we got out of our car and got the tents out of the trunk we had a 5 foot by 5 foot area to set up camp in. your neighbors will sometimes steal as much of your land as they can. if you end up with no room, move to TO. its better anyways.
