We're driving in on Wednesday and will be hitting Nashville in the afternoon and want some good BBQ before the farm. What are some of the best places in the Nashville area? We're coming from the north from I65 to I24. Anyplaces in that area would be best
Hey, if you can make it down to Manchester exit 110 Two Purple Pigs has great barbecue and will be having live music. They have I think three DJ's doing mixes, a comedienne, and a band playing.
I was there recently, and there was this little food truck in an empty lot right down the street from the Titan's stadium. There bbq was pretty good, but there potato salad was amazing.

In my opinion, B&C BBQ is the best in Nashville - there's a location downtown at the Farmer's Market, and one on Franklin Pike. The farmer's market location I believe is open until 6pm - and it would be a great spot to stock up on fresh local produce before you head to Manchester.
I agree with the person that Mentioned B&C. They have really good sides.
It is out of the way, but Martin's in Nolensville does whole hog Q. The pit master there has gotten quite a bit of national reconition. martinsbbqjoint.com/
In Murfreesboro (30 mile north of Manchester on I-24), Slick Pig is good. They are known for their smoked wings. slickpigbbq.com/

Does the $10 include you feeding every bite to me? If so im down!
I actually haven't had that much BBQ since moving here, but I can recommend a cool little bar with a slow cooker near me in East Nashville named Drifter's. Their beef brisket nachos are wonderful.

cantrells is great. they have that amazing chilli spaghetti you can only get at a soul food bbq place. however if you want a drink head to drifters. i LOVE drifters. they have great sides and wonderful bbq. they have really good smoked wings that are very different - not your average chain wings at all. they have a back patio and a front deck area and its very nice and clean. service is also really good. the best thing is that its in the heart of the five points district. so have a bite then walk around and enjoy the shops, bars, etc of historic east nashville
Being from Memphis, the BBQ offerings in Nashville seem vastly inferior to me.
Yep I grew up eating West TN BBQ as well, and Nashville does not have what I consider a "real" place. In all fairness my standards are high though. Also yes Whitts is terrible poorly smoked bad BBQ. LG, have you been over to Jim and Nicks over by our area of town? To me they are the one of the better places in town.

As many have said, not a lot of great BBQ in Nashville. If you want the true Nashville experience, get some hot chicken from either Prince's Hot Chicken Shack or Bolton's Spicy Chicken and Fish. Just make sure you get 1-2 levels lower on the heat level than you normally order because it's HOT and you do not want the burning ass of doom at Bonnaroo with nothing but portos available...
