My gigantic tent is 10x18. My canopy is 12x12 and will not even fit over a corner of the tent.
I want to hang a tarp for shade. I was thinking to attach it to the canopy, then put tent poles right behind the tent and attach the tarp there, then to the ground.
Will this work or is there a better way?
I seriously doubt my ability to do this if it is possible, so I really need the "Tarps for Dummies" type of explanation. I don't even know how to attach the tarp to the poles.
Too much work for this setup. Don't bother. I've tried to do the poles and tarp before and it requires more technical skill than most of us have. A big wind or drunken misstep makes the whole thing crash (unless you are really good).
Damn. I was hoping you had more help because I'm new to this too...didn't use tarps last year and didn't even have a canopy. What i am intending to do if i can figure it out is put the tent between my car and canopy and attach a tarp between my canopy and the luggage rack things on the top of my car. But we'll see if it actually happens.
Instead of mounting to cars, you can mount to the top frame of the EZup... if you're tarp is long enough, I'd run the tarp all the way over the EZup and secure to the opposite side of the frame, that way water won't leak in if it rains.
well what you can do is to put it up as best as you can and be prepared to have to readjust it several times. i wouldnt put anything under it that could break and i wouldnt sleep under it unless you are SURE you have it set up well because. like it was said, one drunk person bumping or grabbing it will send it to the ground.
still....you can likely get it to work for a short time in the hot hours of the day quite well
im going to attach my tarp from my shade tent to my car. it will go over my tent. sounds like your tent may be too tall for this. there may be a tall truck around or van that would be available for you to attach to or even someones tall tent across from you.
