I've yet to be in the pit, but since Radiohead is there this year, I plan to get in it.
My question is... is there a bad location in the pit? Like, if you get too far off to one side, would you be better off having just been back in the general area? Or, is pretty much anywhere in the pit prime location?

Specifically to your question I've felt that being in the back of the pit isn't as exciting as it may seem. If you're in the front/middle it's better but if you're towards the back it's just like being at a regular show.
