no, guest is different from VIP. there is a thread about this started just the other day but I can't find it to link it. your wife has guest but you don't? that stinks. guest has a private camping area and showers but no bathrooms like VIP. and you can't go in the vip tents. it has some of it's own private tents though. it is a step under VIP but still way above GA.
Guest is not a step below VIP. I'm sorry. When you are Guest, you are behind the scenes. I was able to meet conan obrien, neil young, ashley capps, etc because I was backstage. She will be allowed in the press area where there is a nice restaurant (pretty expensive) but yummy food. because she is behind the scenes, she'll be able to enter the concerts from back stage. this is where i watched the shows usually.
yes vip has way better bathrooms, free buffet night, and viewing tents, but she will have the time of her life. there is also a big buffet on sunday night. free food and booze. fun times.
the band can escort you backstage with their pass. if the band is leaving before the fest is over, ask them for their pass. i was able to get my little brother backstage one year when my friends were playing. good luck, have fun!! i dont know if im able to make it this year. live it up for me!

actually, guest wristband does not give you access to the press area. you need a media or photo wristband for that. the "restaurant" area is guest area. press just happens to have access to that area, but guests don't have access to press area.
also... guest wristband does not give you access to backstage area. if you were back there, you either had credentials OTHER than guest wristband or you went many years ago (prior to 2006). I went in 2002 and had guest wristband and you could "almost" go anywhere with that back then. I've been every year since 2008 as a guest and i've only been backstage with an escort. sometimes, you can be on the side of the stage in the tents, but that kinda sucks anyway. on the main stages, guest doesn't get you anywhere near backstage.
