Did anyone else notice that in order to be eligible for VIP upgrades, you need to register your wristband by 9pm tonight according to Roo's facebook?
So only the people they've got around to shipping to are included in this contest? How about those of us who paid for expedited shipping and haven't even seen a shipping confirmation yet?
Some people were saying we may have a BBB case as it's not legal to exclude certain parties from contests and giveaways, although I'm not sure how legit that is. All I know is that it really bums me out we aren't eligible for the giveaway because they quacked up the shipping.

It is kinda crappy, yeah. They did say there would be more contests and stuff, but still, it just seems so weirdly unnecessary to end the contest now when so many tickets haven't been received yet.

Overreaction or legitimate concern??
Overreaction. Just be happy that Bonnaroo is a week away

I feel like with 80,000 people buying tickets we have a poor chance of winning anyway. It's a bummer but there isn't really a whole lot we can do except hope that next year they get their stuff in order.
Regardless I called and asked a couple of questions and got some good information out of it. According to a manager-level ticketing agent, you do not need to register your wristband to get into the festival, despite it saying that you do everywhere.
Also, it is possible for you to get "wristband numbers" if you don't have your wristband -- if you need to leave early for the fest you can call and ask them to hold them at will-call for you and not worry about where your ticket is.
Additionally the package does not require a signature confirmation (thought it would and was stressing about someone being home to accept the package.)
Apparently Bonnaroo picks and chooses what to communicate with them so they were baffled as to why they received so many angry phone calls about the contest. She originally tried to tell me that "someone online" had "run with the info" and "not to believe everything you read online" until I directed her to the Bonnaroo Facebook and her reaction was something like "well I'll be. No wonder everyone is mad at us."
She told me to reassure everyone who was worried about getting into the festival that they will make sure you have your ticket in hand by the time you get there, whether you have to go to will-call or will have it in hand by Friday.
She's going to try to touch base with Bonnaroo about extending the upgrade registration deadline. I should hear from her by the end of the day. I told her I was much less concerned with possible upgrades than I was with everyone who bought a ticket being able to go. And she reassured me everything was fine!
Hope this helps everyone who is stressin about tickets, data mining or both. I spoke with Crystal at MusicToday.

your doing good people work, bisontrax. Thanks. I, too, was bummed about missing out on a chance to be upgraded because they hadn't gotten their shit together in the eleventh year of the festival. Who knows if anyone really even wins those things though. I don't know if it was this specific contest or not, but I definitely remember reading wordage like, "one group MAY get upgraded" or something like that. Fucking lame marketing speak.

Thanks Waiting! At the risk of seeming petty I wanted to make sure I found out as much as possible because it's not that I personally was banking on that eligibility, it's a principle. And as insignificant as it seems, I think a lot of corruption relies on people ignoring those principles. So even if I lost awesome points for it and people don't agree it all comes down to taking care of the roo community.

Thanks for doing the legwork and getting answers. If you see other threads people complaining can you please copy and paste this post

I'm a really easy-going guy but I also like to have all of my information/plans in order before doing something. It just feels better to know what's going on and not have to second-guess.

Yep, they took away some awesome points from me when I was complaining about shipping....the way I see it, if we don't stand up against this nonsense, then it will never change.
I wrote the ticketing people an email on this....they sent me back my wristband number (a little testy on the return email), but it too was a day late to qualify.
If they take away a point, you can have one of mine.....
Superfly is dealing with a lot of backlash from the GoogaMooga Festival in NYC this past month. They turned around and REFUNDED everyone who spent extra for VIP, because of all of the complaints. I'm positive that Bonnaroo, AC Ent and Superfly will turn around and do something for the people who got their tickets after the contest ended.
Honestly, I feel so bad for the people who work for Bonnaroo sometimes. So much negativity on their facebook page and twitter. I guess it's easier for people to send a message of anger than pure joy that the festival is in a week.
I still don't even know if I'm going yet (contestant in their Air Guitar contest). Looking at it from my perspective, I feel bad for the folks making the most magical place on Earth happen. A lot of work, a lot of negative energy spewed towards them, when we ALL know everyone is going to have the time of their lives next week.
Peace out my peeps. Good luck with everything. Have fun for me if my little brother and I don't make it this year!!!!! Peace~~~~~
